What do you use? What would you use?

I'm looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565

I wonder if 2 of these SLI would outperform a GTX 580. Course, I don't have the money for 2 580s, and by the time I do, Direct X 12 will be out and I'll need new cards anyway.

Two of those would outperform a gtx 580. But two 6950 in CF outperforms two gtx 560.

At the minute? I have an ATI card. Prior to this my last two cards were NVidia. Really I've had little interest in ever setting up Crossfire/SLI, so I just buy the card thats cheapest and best fits my needs.

I got the 460 back when it came out and I'm planning on getting another one.

I'm using nVidia, because ever since one of my friends PC's video card burned out, never heard any real trouble with nVidia

Understand the issues with SLI/Crossfire, you can experience degraded performance of just one card by using 2 simultaneously, the technology is not yet fully functioning.

That's quite rare and it's because some games doesnt support SLI/CF and then you can simply turn SLI/CF off.

I've seen games that do support SLI/Crossfire run into issues depending on which drivers you use etc.

and then you can simply turn SLI/CF off.
Then you are only running at the performance one 1 card and If your setup involves multiple monitors or high resolution with AA then you can no longer enjoy that as the card you have remaining is inefficient to perform at that level.

Just understand that if you run into an issue with SLI/Crossfire that it can cause annoyances and frustration.

But if you can't afford a high end GPU then SLI/Crossfire is efficient (near 90%) to get good performance on a budget.

Currently running a HD 6870... thinking I might grab a cheap 460 and slot it in next to my 6870 and put my Hydra chipset through it's paces. Muwahahahaha.

Dual 460's seem to be a good choice to go for if you don't want to fork over serious cash for one of the new 500 series or a 480. :x
Or even a 580. Gotta love that 90% performance boost.

580's are expensive though. According to NVidia's page though, there isn't that much of a difference between the 480 and the 580. I'm sure it's a bit more complicated then that, but I can't see a huge difference at least by going off their comparison page. x.x!
In Crysis Warhead gtx 580 sli has 75/48 max/min fps
and Gtx 480 sli has 64/45 fps
and in Bad company 2 gtx 580 sli has 152/119 fps
gtx 480 sli has 132/97 fps

In DX11: Unigine Heaven
Gtx 580 Sli got 2114 points
Gtx 480 sli got 1777 points

Cant wait untill I get my new mobo so I can use my second gtx 480.

Well...here's something that happened. I usually submit bugs that have happened to producers so that they could fix them. I once sent some serious ones to both Nvidia and ATI (I usually test cards for friends)

Nvidia had a driver out in less than a week.

ATI didn't release one in ...oh I don't know. More than 2 months. I got bored looking for it.

I have an Nvidia card and will probably only buy from them.
