...given my only <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.128851>two <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.130703>reviews so far (and my outstated love for TYPE-MOON), I think my answer might be obvious by now. If it isn't, somehow, I'll just state that yes, I do rather like them. Quite a few are expressly uninteresting (especially a lot of the eroge), but there are still a few that are extremely well-written and entertaining.

Edit: From your description of them, I don't think I would like them. If I wanted to read something, I would read a book. If I wanted animations, I would watch a movie. If I wanted a game, I'd play a game. Sort of fills a niche that I don't see existing.
Books and movies give you no control over the direction the story takes. Books rarely come with their own soundtracks and typically feature limited artwork, and movies in particular are constrained by time. These
are games, that take <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndZ0a5lG7LU>a form focusing almost exclusively on story.
But mostly, it's the story that recommends a typical VN.

What do you think about visual novels? For thouse who don't know, Visual novels are like books on the computer, except they have artwork, cgs, and music. They also may feature brief animation. I personally enjoy them, some of my favories including:
Clannad
There's a spoiler warning in the video description, so I'm not watching the thing. I'll just ask...was Clannad actually released in English? Or did someone make a translation patch or something? I've actually been looking for it.
