I have waited years for sequals of games that I love (the entire resident evil series) and they seem to take forever to come out (killzone 2 for example).

Heres the question.

What game sequal do you think took to long to come out/is taking to long to come out, and what game do you think was worth the wait/will be worth the wait?

I'd rather they take enough time to make the sequel good rather than churn out shovelware crap, frankly.

If more companies could afford to follow Blizzards "When it's ready" mentality the world would be a better place.

If you have to wait, it's generally worth it. The "once a year" sequels generally add nothing new and could barely be named sequels. It's the 3-4 year epic waits that generally produce true sequels, sure you've got to wait but it's more often than not worth it.

There are a bajillion PS2 and Gamecube games that need playing, on top of the endless indie stuff on the web. I don't even pay attention to hype anymore, there's enough stuff I want to play that's already out.

A lot of game companies release sequels too often nowadays. They basically just churn out the same game year after year because they know you'll pay for it. On the other hand, you get Valve who take years to just release an 'episode' (not even a full game) and whilst Half Life is great, it also suffers from a certain repetition - same weapons, same enemies, same see saw puzzle... It's not so much about the time taken but more about the effort put in. That said, we don't really want to be waiting more than 5 years for any sequel. (take a hint 3D Realms)
