Poll: War or peace

I was wondering when people post a 2-sided+ topic are they looking for a civil debate or a confirmation of their own personal ideals?

I myself tend to prefer debate, more fun and I get more information on the subject in question if I hear from the other side.

I like to debate and arbitrate. It allows me to learn and respect ideals more.

For instance, I hate smoke, but I defended smokers without flaw in a topic a while back.
I feel I've grown more intelligent and open-minded. And that can only be good.

I enjoy talking, although I can't help pointing out hypocrisies in other peoples points.

I like debate... as long the opposition brings decent arguments which make sense and that I can understand why they might believe that, even if I don't agree with them. Not "it just is" type arguments.

I say what I think and what I know.

Beyond that, I don't mind arguing, no matter how dirty it gets. Humans are descended from poo throwing apes so in all honesty don't expect a groundbreaking discussion all the time.

I like a reasonable debate because I'm able to learn new things. I do post trying to seek agreement sometimes if I'm not completely certain of my knowledge. If my reason is unsound, then I am open to productive criticism or new ideas.
