Poll: Warhammer 40k

I like the Eldar in that they seem to be the least macho/savage race that I've encountered, but still have personality and a sense of nobility.

Having said that I don't really want to spend money putting together an Eldar army for the tabletop game, so right now I just have a small bunch of unpainted Space Marines (the ones from the Asssault on Black Reach set, for those of you who know what I'm talking about).

I've always wondered what would happen if the Tyranids and Necrons (2nd fav) did battle. One things for sure, it would be epic.

Mostly long and drawn out.

Possibly, ecpically on table tops, but if you imagine, like a CG battle between the two(if made well), daaaaammmmm!

But it would have to end with the Tau coming down and killing everything.

It would be epic but....

Necrons own the Tau, because a lot of the heavy stuff for Tau is vehicals, and machines, and a lot of the Necron's wepons are anti-tank/machine suff.

Also I dont understand how the Tau aren't wiped out yet... I mean the Space Marines, could wipe then out easily since the Tau empire have like 2 stars acording to the 40K map, and the space mariens have like 50.

It's because we are the gods of ranged combat. If you can't hit us, you can't win.

Couldn't find the exact quote but somewere in my Deathwatch rulebook it says something about the Tau measure time in decades while the emperium measures it in centuries. And when the time comes, when the Tau have become a real threat THEY WILL BE CRUSHED!!


Favorite? I would have to go for IG although it's the baneblades and titan legions that warms my heart the most.

As much as I love my Imperial Guard, I started with Blood Angels back in 1993, so I'll have to go with them.

For me it's a tie between Tau and Necrons. Both have awesome lore and interesting mechanincs, SPESS MEHREENS are just to generic for me and do most certanly not deserve like five different codexes for minor variations (IE vanilla space marines, Black Templars, Blood Angels, etc), when there are other codexes more then a decade old.

Dark Angles... are a close second to Tau obviously. I love ranged fire power, and the Rail-gun description in the 4th ed codex sealed the deal for me.

Space Orks. Any army that has a rule about sending in runts (read: children) to clear a minefield by making the mines super-effective gets my vote.

Well, I never got into the tabletop side of things, but I'm a huge fan of the setting. Fluff-wise, the Imperial Guard is my favorite. There's something compelling about the bravery of ordinary humans fighting in the face of a galaxy of horrors (admittedly, a fair amount of said bravery is bolstered by fear of the Commissars). As a history buff with special interest in the World Wars, it's perhaps no coincidence that my favorite army would wield military hardware that is strongly reminiscent of World War II.

The old Chaos Codec version of the Iron Warriors. I had a mean tabletop army with a Basilisk which would hammer everything on the table.

With the new one making my army obsolete (to my knowledge, they haven't revised. I stopped caring after that) I developed a fondness for Tau, so they are currently my fav.
