I completed GTA IV yesterday, and I was really surprised at the length of it! It took me 8 days of playing it quite a bit every day (no cheats used), but I remember GTA games taking a considerable amount of time to complete, San Andreas took me months to finish! And the last mission was far to easy, there aren't many enemies, and are easy to kill and the only slight challenge is jumping off the ramp up to the chopper! What happened over at Rockstar?

What are your opinions on completion of GTA IV and do you think it was too short?

Graphics drag down play time, the best(est) games graphics wise like GtA 4 was will suffer from length flaws, excellent game though.

No, I think it was just as long as it should have been. I don't think it could have gone on any longer without becoming boring and just dragging the plot.

Agreed. It was just right.
Would it have been any longer the plot would have suffered.
Besides, there's a lot to do afterwards.

And I played GTA IV a little longer than San Andreas actually. SA was 34 hours and IV 36 for me.

Yes, there is more to do at the end, but I really think that taking down Pegorino at the end (if you kill dimitri on the deal) should have been a little more elongated and much more challenging that just chasing and shooting him, I think there should have been a few more missions taking down Pegorino's business.

The main story missions seemed about the right length, but because of the lack of many side missions & bonus activities compared to previous GTA's, the overall product does seem short.

Both Vice City & San Andreas kept me entertained for many many months, but I completed GTAIV in a few weeks & did all the side missions (without playing it every day or for long periods of time). Now it seems there's very little substance to keep me entertained & little incentive for me to play it much, so overall it is very short.

GTA IV is the goldilocks of the the series.

GTA III was too short (it took me 3 days IIRC).
GTA San Andreas was too long (I gave up out of boredom in the end)
GTA IV was just right!

I unfortunately havn't finished it yet, and I got it around launch.

So I think it's too long, sure there are plenty of other things to do (of which I have yet to discover) but since GTA4 was so story-oriented I wanted to finish the story (which I got tired of over time admitedly) but since almost non of the missions I took progressed the actual story at all (Like, killing Bernies stalkers, Taking Bernie out boating, Killing Bernie's blackmailers, Bernie bernie bernie) I just got tired of killing everyone for basically no reason (OMG SHOCKER!)

It didn't help that I thought Niko was a schizophrenic sadist and a mix of the joker at the same time, I really don't like him >_>;

But yeah, it was too long for me, and when I found out it could take over 60 hours I just thought "Ungh, I don't want to tread through more Bernie missions!" (even though he's so adorable!). That's my humble opinion anyway.

GTA IV seemed about the right length for me. It lasted me a good three or four weeks, and last time I checked I'd logged about one hundred hours, so I got my money's worth.

Yes. The combination of repentant angst and ROCKET LAUNCHERZ is always an awkward one.

I tend to be a completionist, so I try to do all of the missions that I can, even the side-crap like stealing cars for Stevie and taking all my best friends out on guy-dates so they'll still like me.

As a result, not only have I still not finished the game, but I've completely forgotten what is going on with the story, and most of the time when Niko talks about how he's looking for x guy, I have no idea who he's going on about.

I admit, a big chunk of this is my fault, because I tend to forget to play the game for weeks at a time. It just doesn't hold my interest like I think it's supposed to. All that said, I still wouldn't call it "too long" because it's nice to know that whenever I do get around to throwing it back in, I have more to do. I'm tired of all my other games that I finished the same day I got them.

Im really not enjoying the game as much as I should be.

I dont like Niko as a main character, I dont like the fact everything is brown, I dont like having the other characters ringing me up in the middle of stuff to go an keep them company because they are lonely, the list goes on.

But ill complete it, im not wasting my cash by not.

I think Saints Row is a better GTA game than GTA 4, so role on Saints Row 2, I cant wait to buy me some Freckle Bitches.
