Although I love to play games I also really enjoy watching other people playing them. Sometimes I think it brings an extra element of excitement in when your watching someone playing and the outcome is out of your control (especially in scary games)
Some games that I've really enjoyed watching is Persona 4 and resident Evil games.
I was just wondering what you guys think of watching games?
Do you prefer to play, watch or like both equally?
Also If you enjoy watching games, which games have you enjoyed watching the most (so I can get my bf to play them :p )

I have absolutely no problem watching games, which some people find baffling, but I doubt anybody here will say they enjoy watching more than playing.

I don't personally enjoy watching games but my entire group of friends watched me beat Assassin's Creed 1, 2, and Batman: Arkham Assylum. I don't know what is was about those games but they always drew a crowd and people came over with purely the intent of watching them.

It depends. The game could be unenjoyable to play, the person playing it could provide good commentary.

Heck, some of the most fun I had with Bioshock was watching my friend play it because she got really sucked into the enviroment, whereas I had just gotten into a "run-and-gun" mentality.

Definitely playing although watching your friends fail at the simplest things in games can be almost as fun.

I love gaming. Emphasis on the 'ing' part, implying that I'm the one doing it. However, I do enjoy getting other people into gaming (and therefore watching them play). At this point, I've spread gaming to family, friends, a few girls...

I love to play games, but I also love to get other people to love them too.

It can be fun to watch others play too, but usually I want to play when I see someone doing it. But obviously it depends on the game and who is playing it.

I would prefer to be playing but I don't mind watching either.

Depends on what game it is...
For example, my brother got fallout 3 for christmas and I didn't start playing until around easter. Before that I could easily watch him and get a great deal of enjoyment out of it.
I can also watch anyone play GTA when they're getting chased/shot at by police.

I do find watching useful, especially on RTS games I'm new to. I picked up some good tactics by watching multiplayer matches. But I mostly play them, I like to spade and experiment myself.

I dont mind watching a game aslong as its played by a competent individual but to get the most i need to have the mouse/controller in my hand

Depends on the game and the player. If the game is one I'm not normally interested in playing or if it's one I've played before, I'll consider watching it. If the player is entertaining to watch (either competence and skillwise, or through sheer personality), I'll consider watching it.

The best LPs I've seen combine both.

I like playing best, but I have no problem watching either. At least some games. I have a group of friends and we usually gather to play all resident evil-type games together. We had a blast with Dead Space ^^

Same with here, I can't lurk, I'm incapable of it, I used to, before I joined, but that was because I was nervous. I can't do it anymore, I have to comment on the thread.
I felt the same way when I joined, I'm only now coming out of my shell :)

OP, if you pay me, I'll happily play a game so you can watch me ;)

OT: personally I like playing best, like most others have already written as well, but I certainly don't mind watching either, gives me time to play with my phone or something :D

I prefer to watch people play than the other way around. I get uncomfortable when someone else is watching me play.
