Poll: Wet

i just played the Wet demo and found it to be pretty lackluster, the combat felt like it would get repetitive quickly. The berserk mode just felt weird, the graphics look really bad for a next gen game and the demo has a quick time event after an unskippable cut scene.

I do like the artwork for the game. The whole making it seem like a crazy action film really felt right. I am interested but with plenty of other big games coming out I'm afraid I'll be tight on cash.

Myself, I haven't played the demo nor made a decision about it.

Also it's being made by Bethesda whom I have no respect for (horrible dialogue and stories) and it's obviously being sold primarily by sex. Female protagonist who is posed provocatively on the cover and the title is called WET. The sexual innuendos couldn't be less subtle.

I've seen some footage and it looks pretty terrible, like tomb raider with out the puzzles, just shitty combat with some slow mo tacked on.

I liked it, it was just a little weird how all I did was hop around and kill everyone in bullet time.

Gonna buy the game though, my xbox could use a few more titles and Wet seemed pretty good.

Surprisingly I thought I'd hate it, but as the demo progressed I found myself enjoying it. I'll be getting the full game, probably not on release date, maybe wait a month will the pre-owned versions start building up and their price drops, but overall I say I probably will play it at some point, and I think I've got the right level of expectation for it too, so if anything I'm more likely to be pleasantly surprised with the final product.

I played the demo, and while I liked the snappy cutscenes and "ultra-violent Grindhouse movie"
aesthetic, I probably will not be buying it.
The gameplay just didn't do it for me.

Wet animates poorly, I bring this up because of Wet's direct competitor Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. The latter animates beautifully. I also fully expect Bayonetta to animate beautifully, luckily for this game Bayonetta got pushed back to January 2010. The graphics are not the issue here, it is the fact that everything in game animates so horridly outside of the admittedly awesome sequence with the cars.

Just seeing a gameplay video...I have honestly seen better bullet-time gunplay mechanics in Mirror's Edge.

And yeah. That's the one that encourages you NOT to pick up guns.

I hated it. Combat boils down to this: Jump, hold shoot, land, slide, hold shoot, if anyone gets close to you, use your sword. That's it. I never felt badass, but I felt the game wanted to make me feel badass. The enrage (or whatever it's called) was terrible, it's supposed to make you more powerful, but it makes it impossible to shoot or do anything, you just have to run around slashing enemies with your sword. The quick-time-event cutscene was terribly done. I didn't like it at all, which is sad because I thought I would. Oh well.
