Ok I got into an argument over what the proper terminology for split screen cheating is called. I have always used "screen hopping" and all my friends looked at me like I was crazy, but then again I am crazy...but I digress. They were set on it being called "screen peeking" or even "screen cheating". I'm not saying I'm right and they are wrong, but am curious as to what other people use.

EDIT: i added screen looking to poll. I've heard of this, but just forgot about it

Screen looking (or calling the person a screen looker).....just because it was the first thing I yelled at my buddy when I saw him duck as he came around a corner and I fired the sniper rifle right over his little armored head (Halo 1)....that sonofabitch. I am not very good at shooters and I was so proud of that shot that almost was...

It varies. Sometimes it's called screen looking, cheating, or something else.

Screen cheating.

We've gotten into so many arguments about not the terminology, but the action. I mean, just because you have hot cocoa doesn't mean you can screencheat!

Screen watching.

Pretty sure there is no 'proper' terminology. But interesting topic, still.

My friends and I all call it Screen Watching, I've never really heard it being called anything other than that. Screen cheating sounds a little weird to me, but to each their own.

I just say "I can't help but look"
Seriously, how am I supposed to keep my eyes averted?
Same here. When you're used to using the entire screen, it gets hard to limit yourself... At least I find that.

I don't think there's a single "proper" term. I hardly ever play console games, and split screen is nearly non-existent on PCs, but personally I don't consider it cheating either. It's better if no one can see someone else's screen but it's hard to not glance down when they're next to eachother.

Oh god, the memories. Man With the Golden Gun on Facility, in Goldeneye on the 64. So many exclamations of "SCREEN LOOKER!" "HACKER!" "SPAWN KILLER!"

Now I have to think about it I don't know...
Thought I think I'd say something like "Stop being such a fking screen watcher"...
Honestly had no idea the word screen was in there, kinda seems weird to see it so much in the poll.
But yeah, "Joe's screen watching again" or "Joe can't help it, he's a pro screen watcher" is how I'd go.

neither.

only thing i can say about split screen atm is that occaisonally ill use a guest controller to drive while i also use my main controller to gun in games like halo. i have acually done this in online multiplayer with some effect but it eventually gets too boring keeping track of the 2. its easy enough and useful once you get used to it...

btw dont ask me to prove it because its been a long time since i played reach and for me to be able to effectivly pull off the single player doing both driver and gunner on a warthog trick it requires me to be so heavily in the mindset of the games controls as well as a good amount of time to remember which screen links to which controller which takes another good peroid of time, and im quite frankly bored sick of halo multiplayer.

now... a long time ago when i still had friends in my local area it probably would be "Cheating by looking at my Screen" but that always fell short when i pointed out i didnt care if he did the same thing because it was for all pratical reasons pointless to not do so, and it was my TV so i could look were ever i wanted on it.
