havent really played any of them for an extended period of time, mostly just tried them out when hanging with friends who have them, but i voted for 2, cause it has the best music in my mind, and yes, the theme song is in all of those after it, but 2 was the first one with the song, so it gets my vote :p
Uh, the theme song was in the first one.

I have the original OST. OK so its a bit lower in production value but it is the same song.
Ah, oki, that i did not know, as i said, im not a fan, but the version from the second game is the one i think is best, so i wouldnt change my vote, but thanks for pointing that out for me :)
To be fair, I'm not that much of a fan either, but as a musician the soundtracks are pure awesome.
That they truely are :)

MGS3, by miles. Granted I've only watched MGS4 and haven't played it, but I think MGS3 was the best. I love the entire series to the point of obsession, but MGS3 had a stellar plot with MGS4's problem with too much restatement, a great cast of characters without a love-him-or-hate him like Raiden, and the most rounded gameplay in the series (though the CQC was not user friendly to say the least). It is also, unlike MGS1 and 2, not remembered best for it's fourth wall breaking gimmicks.

There is no real "bad" game in the series, but I think MGS3 harnessed all the elements that make MGS great in the best way.

[/ lalala, I love MGS3 so damn much]

Really I found 3 easy compared to 2 and after The Sorrow the developers seemed to utterly lose sight of what made the game fun.

I'm still surprised so many people have voted for MGS 4.

MGS3 all the way. One was good, Two was as good (and I even tried to like Raiden, hard as it seems. I failed miserably, but that's not the point) and Four is very very good, but Three as the pinnacle of the series for me, and always will be.

MGS3 is the one I put the most playtime into, but I think 4 has given it a run for its money.

I eagerly await MGS4 porting to the 360).
It'll probably never happen. Even if it does, it'll be of lower quality.
Normally I would agree with you. But this has casts some doubts on what I previously believed. Granted this is just a teaser and could not be for the 360, but...

MGS4 was the best in my opinion, though I loved all of them(except MGS2). I really wanted to buya PS3 just to play it but a friend already had a PS3 and was going to buy a copy so I would just stop by his house and play.

I would love an MGS4 on the Xbox 360 so I can have my own copy, but chances are slim so I'm not holdng my breath.

Can I vote for the original MGS? No, not the PS1 version which every man and his snake get wrong, I mean the one on the NES.

That was a cracking game that really got the series going.

Actually scratch that, I am a dumbass. Turns out that it's actually just a trailer for an iPhone and iPod Touch game. Looks like I'll actually have to buy a PS3 now...

You've gotta go with 4, its a near perfect end to an awesome saga. So epic.
The best bit has to be the bit after the credits :)
As good as the story in 4 was, I never felt involved. It was like watching a movie half of the time.

Too many cut-scenes.

Okay, hmmm... I'm gonna go with the original Metal Gear Solid. First of all, it was a good and decent piece of work. It got the whole tactical espionage thing going alright, and Snake was a proper badass. But there's more to it than that. The first MGS also had the fun of there being so much material to make fun of or spoof and parody. Granted, you can do that with the rest, but MGS is the most FUN to make fun of. People quote Genome Soldiers, make tons of references to the Box, use the codec and "!" noise all over the place, etc. - just for kicks. There's alot of material in there. Has anyone even THOUGHT of the manner in which Foxhound members seem to be set up like Megaman X villains? (Hah-hah! They used the Konami Code to steal from Capcom!) And then, of course, there is the Awesome work of a man called Egoraptor. But I digress... The other games have their amusement quotient, but not in the same levels as Metal Gear Solid the 1st.

Well thats for the iphone, Kojima anounced it last week. Theres been metal gear handheld games before (on gameboy and psp) so i dont really think this iphone game suggests an xbox port of mgs4.

Thats Metal Gear, not Metal Gear Solid, and is thus not part of the series. So no.
It's a stealth game featuring Solid Snake fighting Metal Gear - what part of that does not sound like it's part of the series?

I just love Shadow Moses, and I love the original design and story of MGS1.

Since 4 is the only one I've played, and I absolutely loved MGS4, MGS4 gets my vote.

However, do any of you guys know if they still sell the MGS complete pack? The one with all the MGSs 1-3?
Same, I haven't played the others, but 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. period. And yea, I've been looking for that too, I want to play the earlier games so badly.
