I'm left handed for almost everything but guitar playing and keyboard and mouse... wielding. On my right hand, my index has scrolling and LMB, middle finger has RMB. I occasionally switch to the more common method, adding the ring finger in, but usually I stick to the two finger method.

Left handed in most cases. Use my right hand for mouse; index finger is LMB and scroll wheel while the middle is used for RMB.

I voted "right handed: index, middle, ring" but I'd like to state for the record that I'm actually left handed. As a kid I got tired of moving the mouse to the other side of the keyboard so I just learned to do it right handed. Now using it with my left feels uncomfortable; doable, but uncomfortable.

(I used to get annoyed at my equally left handed brother-in-law because he never put the mouse back on the right when he'd used the computer, lol.)

Also, why wouldn't one use all three fingers? It didn't even occur to me that some people might not!

Left-handed person here, but I use the right hand for mouse.
Index finger for LMB, index finger for middle mouse button and middle finger for RMB.

I voted "left-handed: other"

I'm right handed, I use my index finger for left click/scroll wheel and my middle finger for the right mouse button. I have a razer naga mouse, so my thumb gets used on the naga's keypad.

EDIT: I just tried using my middle finger for the scroll wheel. It feels so awkward.

Index finger for LMB, the middle finger for my mouse scroll wheel, and the middle finger still for the RMB. After reading this thread I tried out using my ring finger for RMB, it feels weird and alien to me.

Right hand Other; I use my index finger for LMB and middle for RMB, to scroll I use either of them, not just one specifically

Well I was born effectively missing a middle finger (It's about half the length of a normal one, and at a 90 degree angle with no flexibility) so index for lmb and scroll wheel.

Index for M1, Ring for M2, Middle for M3, and thumb for M4 and M5. The pinkie is effectively worthless - I'm considering having it amputated and selling it to get trading cards or something.

The mouse I use does not have a scroll wheel or middle mouse button, however it does have back and forward buttons for navigating web pages.
It's also a trackball, meaning you don't actually move the mouse itself but rather spin around this little ball on top, it functions kind of like a track pad but smoother, in my opinion anyway.
My mouse is kind of a freak of nature.

Why no option for using your middle finger for both your LMB and Scroll Wheel?

It centers your hand much better on the mouse. At least I think it is...

I'm left-handed but use my right-hand for my mouse, perhaps not the most unbiased PoV.

I never really understood how ESDF was in anyway better than WASD, with the exception of wow, you don't need more keys than WASD can reach and WoW hotkeys are cirvemvented by CTRL/Shift, certainly not in FPS, RTS have a few more buttons to push, but you don't need to be moving anyone or stretching your keyboard hand for those. Even the "natural position for typing" isn't really a strong point as I never have any issues reaching any keys, and the true position a typist learns is ASDF.
The idea of ESDF is that you unlock more keys to use, and thus become more flexible. Suddenly the T, G and V keys become more accessible, while the W and A keys can me mapped to different functions and, if you find it comfortable enough/have long fingers, Q, X, C, Y, H, and B keys can also be readily used, all while shift remains easily available as well. Basically, you are more flexible in how to arrange your own custom key bindings. That's the idea anyway. I've also heard it's more comfortable for people who can professionally type, though I couldn't verify that.

Sure, FPS might not benefit, but I've played several RPGs where I wished I had just a couple of extra keys that were easy to reach.

I give this thread one middle finger

As my answer.

Because that's what I use for my scroll wheel. Although I will say, in times of extreme mouse clicking I use my middle finger for the LMB and my ring finger for the scroll wheel. For some reason I find it easier to click rapidly with it. Maybe it's due to extensive use... As thread answers.

Whoa, I was extremely surprised by the poll results.

I can't imagine anyone NOT using their middle finger for the scroll wheel, unless they were new to computers. Apparently I was incorrect.

Maybe PC gaming is what really sealed my usage, since flipping where my index finger is could lead to mistakes. Not to mention, using the index finger in general for the scroll wheel makes the mouse more...unwieldy, for lack of a better term. Keeping four fingers (3 plus thumb) on the mouse at all times makes it easier to control, in my opinion.

I'm naturally left handed but use my right hand for the mouse. Index for left click, middle finger for scroll and right click, thumb for side buttons

Fair enough, I'm usually perfectly happy with keybindings in /most/ games, bar Crouch and crummy ports. I can reach TGV quite comfortably as it is myself, though I don't know if that's just because I play guitar and my fingers are slightly more flexible, but then I do have quite short fingers too.

I just feel that these days the only games that would benefit from it are massively complex RPGs with more keys than a Jailor. But then this is a thread about prference, so what do I know? :p

Left handed and using a trackball without a scroll wheel. I do have a scroll wheel on my speed pad but mostly I just use the trackball with my index finger, its not all that much different anyway.

Right handed. Index finger for the scroll wheel and LMB, middle finger for right-click, thumb for the side buttons, and ring finger for the extra button my mouse has to the right of RMB.

Yeah, my mouse has a bit of stuff going on, but it allows me to maximize time my left hand is on WASD while gaming, which is more of a convenience thing than a "ermegerd must have max performanses for gamez."
