The site has been around for years and isn't some malware front.

Also the information is useless? I mean, it's been here for years, I thought everybody knew not to just blindly trust it. It literally just reads the specs instead of you, that's it, I can do that myself. Also, specs are too often wrong or misleading, so even the service provided is not that useful even if I went with it. In fact, I'm better off checking things myself, I have a better judgement than an automated compare tool.

Laptops (which the OP is talking about) tend to have quirks such as intergrated graphics cardbeing used instead of the on board device

Morally to test a game? That's a good one, how about having a better understanding of the capabilities of your hardware? That would be a good start, and to break you the news ever so gently, the 525M is not a gaming card, so to save you the trouble of pirating a bunch of software to "test", lets just tell you pretty much everything is going to run like crap unless it is an older title or you don't mind low to medium settings, about the capabilities of an XBox 360 or a PS3, well they are closer to medium, with reduced draw distance and lowered resolution.

Listed in the low-mid range graphics cards, most modern games will run fine on low to medium settings, see? no need to pirate anything.

Did you even read the OP? I've gotten low, LOW frames on games that should run fine on low settings, like I said in the OP. I've also gotten perfectly playable frames on plenty of new, high spec games, so it's the inconsistency that is the reason I don't enjoy WASTING my hard-earned dollars on games that SHOULD run, but DON'T.

Yea, I had that problem initially, but I know what I'm doing and I do have all of my games set to run using the dedicated chip. Those sites are crap because they never go any deeper than numbers. Poor optimization for certain cards isn't even mentioned there, I have to go to forums to find that stuff out, and there, I just get berated by people like the guy I just quoted before you, who just treat you like shit for not running Titans on a computer you bought for school and occasionally for some games, like I'm not already running stuff on low settings.

So sorry, forget some have varying degrees of tech knowledge, something I often forget when communicating with others on the Escapist despite the rise in the number of PC gamers here. The numbers on that site indicate an optimal system, one not loaded with bloatware from the manufacturer, not running a bloated antivirus such as Norton or McAfee, one that is not connected to the net that often, not used to surf porn and torrent sites, you know the usual suspects for spyware/malware. These are clean systems just used to test the games, and these are the results under ideal circumstances.

If you believe your system fits in that category then you should update the drivers, sometime beta drivers work best, use a driver cleaner to remove old drivers, they can be found for free online check tucows etc., I just use driver sweeper. Can check to see if the on-board video is down stepping the system, this happens when a game starts and frees memory to run, the system sees this as being idle and goes into a type of power saving mode. This is usually more common in gaming systems with high end cards, not likely the culprit with yours, but worth a look.

So once again, please don't let your lack of knowledge regarding your own system be a "justification" for piracy, it is not the developers fault you don't understand how your system works.
