A JRPG is simply a RPG that is made in Japan. If it has the rpg staples, then its an rpg. Its really not that difficult to understand.
did u read any of the other posts? it is a style of rpg
How so? No matter where the game is built, if you get stronger by killing things and/or collecting stuff then its automatically falls under the genre RPG. The characters in a JRPG is just the creators taste.

Well i was talk in to hURR dURR dERP about this before and i said that it was by definition geographical, especially since he included games such as kingdom hearts as not being jRPGs but action RPGs, and i do'nt think thats right. This is why then i said it was a tricky definition and might need to be redefined. A western game can have Japanese elements with out being jrpg. But by the poll I seem to be loosing the argument.

Saying a JRPG is just any RPG made in Japan is like saying Japanese cuisine is any food made in Japan.

A JRPG is a specific genre, not bound to geographical limits, that is usually made in Japan.

I always held the belief that they're made in Japan and are really really ridiculous and exaggerated. Pretty much, yeah?
