David Cage claims that Heavy Rain cannot be described as a video game. However, if you play a typical scene in a game, it can be approximated as wandering through a rooom focusing on the objects available for interaction and activating them until a solution can be found. Although a simplistic view, ignoring the multibranch story line an action/consequence aspect of the game which is very respectable, is this not similar to a point and click adventure?
These games went out of fashion several years back (at least in mainstream, apologies if I am missing any popular games). With this multifaceted approach to the genre and story lines unique to the individual, could games such as this rejuvinate something that has been missing from mainstream gaming for many years?
