Done this all before enough times, so...

Home: Pentium-M 740, 1Gb DDR-533 dual channel (to be maxed to 2Gb if I can be bothered), i915 chipset including graphics, 120Gb 5400rpm ATA133 disk blah blah blah. Internets and media, was bought for work purposes but I happily ditched having to do lots of MS Office grinding for my wage about a year after buying it.

Work: Core2Duo T8100, apparently running in single core (and generally crippled and shitty) mode because of that wonderful thing MS built into their OS that means the ACPI computer type the image is built with, is the one you're permanently saddled with, as it's integrated into the very kernel. Our image was built on a single core and I suspect non-ACPI PC...
Also 3Gb RAM (useful on a resource-sucking domain-based network) and some kind of Intel GMA thing that doesn't seem significantly more beefy than my old i915...
Used for work and internets. And again digital media hacking-around, but for more productive reasons and from different sources.

there's a creeper next to my computer and it's sole purpose is to protect it from being stolen.

Also
I have an ATI 4850 HD Graphics card (Which I hope to replace with an NVidia because this thing has been giving me shit since Day one)
A Phenom II X2 3.1 Ghz Processor-Black Edition
A very pathetic 2 GB of DDR3 RAM
a motherboard. (I don't remember! ASUS r34t45eyrghbtre5tr4f3ewqgf-X-TREMEEEE or something like that)
A 750 Watt Power Supply
Peice-of-Shit Motherboard Network Card
a 23" 16:9 Monitor (HANNS-G or something like that)
Lol-gitech G11 keyboard
Rage-tastic Logitech G35
And a Logitech G9 Mouse.

EDIT: And it's a gaming rig. That's pretty much all it does. But it can run Microsoft Word like nobody's business.

Well, i have quite a good laptop, especially for the price. Well, I can run Half-Life 2 on highest graphics at 50 FPS.

AMD V120 Processor, 2.2GHz
3GB DDR3 Ram
320 GB HDD
2TB external HDD
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Graphics, 1.5GB memory
15.6" HD LED Screen

I'm reading this off the label.

All this, $325.

Gigabyte 8IK1100 Motherboard
Purpose: to amuse with risible engrish translation in the BIOS and documentation

Pentium 4 2.4 GHz Northwood
Purpose: to help the northbridge keep the motherboard warm

1.5 gigs of mixed Infineon and Patriot DDR400
Purpose: to refuse even a 15 MHz overclock

Sapphire Radeon x1650 pro 512 MB
Purpose: to keep my power supply busy and run my 1998-2002 era games flawlessly, but choke on Half Life 2: Lost Coast

Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital OEM
Purpose: To refuse any driver newer than 1.0.0.0.0.0.0....0. Just in case I thought I could get away with the OEM bit.

A bunch of cheap or scavenged fans from 40 mm to 100 mm
Purpose: to unsatisfactorily cool the hardware in spite of careful ducting and produce a cacophony of whirring

Vantec Ion 400 Watt (or 500 watt peak) dual-fan power supply
Purpose: To supply the +5 volt rail with a steady 4.2
