Poll: What is the best Kart Racer?

I recently bought Sonic and Sega All Star Racing and it got me thinking.. What exactly is the best kart racing game out there?

I have to say out of the kart racers i have played CTR was bar far the most fun.

I like customisation, so Modnation Racers gets my vote.

The PSP version feels better to play than PS3 though.

Modnation, like all the other cart racers but so much customization! It is controller crushingly hard though, like to unlock some stuff you have to complete a race without touching the walls and come first, while drifting and being blasted.

I perfer Blur.

I prefer Cutie Kart, especially since you can punch the other drivers in the gut

And I can't help but feel Blur is just ripping off of Mario Kart but also trying to appeal to mature audiences.

I hate kart games with a firey passion and do not believe they qualify to be called racing games, because it's mostly about hoping you get the lucky turtle shell/mushroom/whateverthefuck than actually requiring any driving skill. (Although I've yet to try Modnation racers but I have a feeling that it won't be much different)

Having Said that, if Blur counts, then I'll go with that. If it doesn't then I'll go with double dash. I played it with my brother and I just drove instead of dealing with the powerup juggling.

Mario Kart gets my vote. Best played with friends though.
I don't know if it counts as a kart racer but Pure is very good.

I enjoyed Mario Kart 64, but none of the others I've played (to be fair, not as extensive as some) have done much for me. That said, the only other car game I've enjoyed was Burnout: Revenge, so that may say something.

I'll go with Mario Kart. I have loved all 3 versions that I've played (original, 64, and Double Dash) and very much want to try Mario Kart Wii.

I'm going to have to say CTR, mainly because of the shortcuts you could take, and the story mode. I was never that excited about Mario Kart.
