What I mean by "Standard Fantasy Races" I mean the ones we see in typcial Fantasy settings like D&D, Warhammer, Dragon Age, Warcraft, Tolkein, etc. And I am specifically referring to the 8 races I seleceted:

Elves:

Dwarves:

Gnomes:

Hobbits/Halflings:

Orcs:

Goblins:

Trolls - The problem with Trolls is that they come in a wide varity of appearence that they could look like anything from a tall slender goblin-looking creature to a large hulking brute, for example:

Here is a Troll from Warcraft:

Here is a Troll in Tolkien:

Ogres - and I personally view Ogres as more consistantly the Large Hulking Brutish Humaniods for example:

Here is an Ogre in Warcraft:
http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/wowwiki/images/7/75/Ogre.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20051029185857

Here is an Ogre in Dragon Age:

So let the poll being.

I would have cheated by saying, "Humans because I always play a Human in these Fantasy setting games" but no.

I am sort of split between Dwarves and Orcs.

What?! No Lizard/Dragon race?! That's clearly the best race out of all of them.... But out of the ones you have listed, I'd say Dwarfs. Stocky, love a good melee fight, and always heavily armored. Everything I love.

I or anyone else could make a "Part 2" Version of this poll with other races.

Imma be perfectly honest, I find most of the standard interpretations of the classic fantasy races boring, they tend to just be slightly different looking humans jammed into a stereotype, so I'm gonna go with Elves specifically because they are hot and pretty. If I can take nonstandard interpretations though I would go with Discworld dwarves and trolls. Fantastic interpretations of both.

Elves. Preferably Dark Elves, but regular ones if Dark Elves don't exist or are unavailable. The ears, the prettiness, and the long lifespans are all things that appeal to me.

That one race that gets me all hot and bothered... I always forget what race they are because I black out afterwards...

Other than that, either ponies or dragons... They seem to pop up a lot on my end... Either them or FAIRIES!!

I guess elves. They have the perks of being the "uber race," but while there are undoubtedly elven tropes, elves tend to be the most versatile fantasy race. You get Tolkein elves (wise, ancient, powerful), to the Dark Elves of Warhammer (pyschopaths), to everything in-between. That's not to say that variants of the Tolkein tropes don't exist (e.g. there are a few variants of orcs, some which even make them non-evil), but elves, while sometimes the most cliched, can also be the most interesting if done right.

If just the standard fantasy races are on the table I'll either be human or half-elf. Because:

Eh, the standard ones tend to be very standard, cheap Tolkien rip offs that don't stand up to scrutiny.

...Orcs, usually. They tend to have the most interesting interpretations done with them, and even in the classic Tolkien they were fascinating due to the otherness they had to the human groups and their industrial nature.

Plus I'm sick to death of Elves being played as the 'superior' species so straightly. It's boring as hell. So many fantasy stories and fanfictions I've read where they're just 'humans but better' and all the human characters simper and whimper about how terrible it is to be human when there are elves nearby. Fuckin' pull a Terry Pratchett and make 'em terrifying Fey creatures, don't go the boring route with 'em!

What annoys me about classic elves is that they are so OtT perfect, but their society has not progressed for a zillion years, they still have a backwards culture, they watch the orcs develop from nothing/the last war into a strong and powerful state. Eventually the elves start whining about it, but it's completely their own fault they've not kept their lead on the world stage. Give it a few hundred years and they will still be where they are, and the orcs will be sending people to the moon and getting involved in proxies wars with the lizard people in fantasy Vietnam.

I'm going to have to go with Hobbits for a very simple reason, as much as I enjoy traveling, home is where the heart is, it's the most comfortable and stable place... Plus what idiot goes out on these dangerous adventures, starving them selves, depriving them selves of the most basic comforts. The world would be a lot better and kinder place if more people were like the Hobbits.

If I'm going to pick one it would be elves. Immortal pretty creatures. Bit boring a lot of the time but it's not as if the drunken dwarf, brainless troll, etc aren't overdone as well.

Damn right. Bunch of pricks. And don't get me started on the fucking Eldar...
Well, at least the Eldar are supposed to be like that, the wisest of the Farseers can see the problem and how it's the Eldar's own fault, but the rest of them are blaming everyone else for everything in much of the canon, and their society/s are in a long decline after the Fall. So, at least they aren't supposed to be anything other than what they are.

Trolls, I guess... I personally despise standard races anyways, but when forced into conformity, I'll still try to be as far from trodden ground as possible, mainly because I get to be more creative with monstrous cultures, gender roles, economics, customs, etc.
