We have had a lot of threads about what is most important in games lately, most people claim it is that they be fun to play. So what, to you, makes a game fun to play? This is excluding the technology/graphics, story, thematic elements and everything else that is not part of the game mechanics proper. I am a relatively unskilled player so I value accessibility.

For me: A game make fun, when the gameplay makes fun.
But what makes gameplay fun?

The challenge and the open-endedness of a game.

Basically, anything that lets me be a dick and create ridiculous scenarios and stupid maps.

I like open endedness in games. It basically allows me to fill in the game myself. Also, good graphics are always fun for a little while. I'm probably one of the few people on here that would even look at a game with amazing/groundbreaking graphics but no depth or anything else. It's atleast something they got right then.
