Poll: What makes you hate a protagonist?

When it comes to turning me against the player character, voice acting has always been able to get under my skin. I hate any character voiced by Nolan North pretty much by default, though that could owe to the fact that all his parts have the exact same smug personality. It also annoys me when the protagonist decides to do something in a cutscene that I would never let them do if I were controlling them. Usually this involves dropping themselves into a roomful of baddies and expecting me to get them out.
So what is the one thing that can most make you hate a protagonist?

Sheer blandness for me. That is why I consider Pokeymann trainer and Gordon Freeman to be the most overrated characters in gaming history.

Lousy dialogue, bad acting, and being too good/morally perfect. Morally perfect is boring as hell. The worst of the bunch is dialogue though; I HATE BAD DIALOGUE! That's why I loves me some Tarantino and Smith films, the dialogue is fresh and funny.

anyway I like a likable (many ways to be likable) and well rounded hero. so I guess if they are one dimensional or have personalities I dislike.

Usually it's because the character just doesn't fit the game. this could be the voice acting, characterization, or even visuals, but if the protagonists feels out of place then I generally tend to hate them

ah seriously? respect your opinion but mann everyone i know loves his voice acting, hell uncharted is mediocre almost if it wasn't for his awesome voice acting/humor

agreed. i dont hate those characters but they are extremely fucking over rated, bland characters are just bad fillers imo

I don't care if the character has a faceless personality but if the character is the textbook definition of insane (repeating the same thing over and over and expecting different results), I would rather rip my left arm off (I'm left handed) and shove it in an unimaginable place than play as that character.

Okay but seriously I don't like infailible characters who are unquestionably awesome, as well as I don't like characters who cannot for the life of them come up with good dialouge. Most of all though I dislike characters who I can't identify with and or immerse myself into.

But overall I don't ***** too much about the main character provided that the game experiance is still good.

Hey, he went from living a normal life to shooting the shit out of aliens and have spiritual conversations with his grandfather in less then an hour. I think he has the right to be in denial.

Anyway, protagonists I usually hate are usually something like Vaan from FFXII. Bland personality, mediocre voice acting, ugly or annoying character model. You know, general lameness; nothing that makes you really want to be him in the first place.

You know what would make me like a bad character? If half-way through a mission of like saving the world/princess/the other world they said "Fuck It" and went back home to watch tv.
