Instead of the typical, what popular games do you hate thread, lets see a thread about peoples opinions on games that were born before the PS2.

Now while I love all of the games here, I think the weakest would be Resident Evil, also, I was never a big Metroid fan.

Whats your opinions?

Also be fair, only count games that came out before the PS2, its not fair to judge great franchises like Castlevania and Sonic to their recent offspring.

I don't know if I hate Sonic, but I've never been a fan of any of his games. And given how incredibly bad some of his more recent games have been, I guess I like him the least out of all the franchises up there.

I never got into Final Fantasy, and the more I've seen from it the more I seem to dislike it.
I haven't played any of the games, and I don't want to, because they seem like generic anime fighting games with a complicated story.
So yeah. I never liked it, and the fact that it was popular as fuck at one point made me dislike it even more...

Out of those I only really got into Mario, Zelda and Pokemon. I also had Sonic 1 but didn't like it. The rest I have never played.

None:

I adore Sonic. I'm okay with Mario, and I haven't really played the rest to form an opinion of love or hate.

Zelda. It's essentially the same game repeated over and over (oh look, a boomerang), yet the fanboys love it each and every time. Although I suppose that's the same with Mario too...

I pretty much hate the entire list now, besides Resident Evil, though I'm semi luke warm to it. I've come and gone into the series, and never really loved or hated it.
As for the rest, the only game I've really hated from the get-go is Metroid. Just never like the play style for most of its incarnations, and the only one I actually found mildly fun/interesting was fusion. As for Sonic, Mario, Link etc I've begun to hate them over time, especially between the Nintendo - Gamecube era. I just got sick of playing games that were way to similar. Don't get me wrong each game on it's own is very good, however when you've been around like I have since the beginning and have played every game of the series you get to a point where its like "ho hum" been there done that, I want to do something different. And it is because of the somewhat repetitiveness of these franchises that I no longer care for them and I've somewhat grown to hate the laziness of these companies to rarely deviate from these core franchises.
Seriously what happened, Mario had an actual great streak with things like Super Mario RPG, they actually put some real character into the cast and depth into their world and then poof, back to look a bad guy, princess gone?, platforming.

I hate Mario. The series simply exemplifies most of what I dislike about Japanese character design.

It has more to do with the name than the game itself. It's just a cringe-worthy name for me.

Mario, Zelda, and Sonic never appealed to me, with a few exceptions like Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.

I never understood why Resident Evil was so popular. I mean, with the exception of 4 (which is one of my favorite games ever, though it hasn't aged well), the games are most known for being laughably silly and shitty. All of them (including 4) have terrible stories and dialouge, and the first games have some atrocious gameplay. I'm surprised it lasted long enough for 4 to exist.

where's the none option? I don't like all of the listed franchises, but I don't hate any of them either.
