Just putting this out there, I'm planning on getting both eventually. The thing is, I've been playing a lot of shooters lately and I want something different. But Saints Row looks so wildly crazy and fun and would be a blast to play with friends. Skyrim is going to be incredible and will also be a great, fun game.

Or neither cause I just found a $20 bundle of Bioshock and Oblivion, neither of which I own but have played a bit of and loved.

Both games will surely turn out at the very least half-decent but they're so different that it pretty much comes down to your own preferences.

Skyrim. I just did not like Saints Row. There's whacky fun, and then there's a totally nonsensical pile.

Just ask yourself this, Dragons or giant purple dildo? Answer this question and then you have a solution.

Skyrim.
Oblivion was shit, Bioshock was mediocre, and Saints Row was just an uncoordinated GTA wannabe that just uses it's wacky-ness as a gimmicky crutch.

Skyrim: Awesome fantasy filled game with dragons, big storyline and lots of RPG elements...cus it is well...an rpg...xD

Saints Row: From what I have seen, a kind of GTA feel. You be a thug or pimp or whatnot guy that has no regard for society at all and just want to go down the criminal path and beat shizzle up for lolz

OblivionBioshock-bundle: Old stuff, more gameplay but if you want to enjoy newer stuff and see the awesomest TES has to offer in good looking sauce of awesomeness, go skyrim :p

Depends on what you want mate!

Skyrim - if you love fantasy RPGs and have a lot of time to dig into it.

Oblivion - see Skyrim, but with a tighter budget and older graphics won't freak you out.
+
Bioshock - older goodness.

Saints Row - Imagine that after GTA: San Andreas, Rockstar had said, "Okay, lets tone down the graphics and go for just insanely ridiculousness" instead of "Hey, now let's go super gritty and kinda boring with obnoxious side quests." Let's put it this way: For side quests in GTA:IV, I took my cousin bowling at least a dozen times. In Saints Row, I sprayed feces on buildings, stole cars for a chopshop, flashed citizens for cash rewards, and got involved with insurance fraud.

I have to go with Saints row. There will be a ton of content not even including what you can do online, and with skyrim of course there will be a @#$@ you edition in a year anyways. Oh sorry I meant a GOTY edition

I guess it kind of depends wether you want to chop up some dudes, or shoot up some dudes. They are pretty different and if you want to get out of shooters I think Skyrim is a better choice
