I think this technically should be in gaming discussion, but oh well.

So, Magic: The Gathering. I used to play around the time of Dissension, Coldsnap and 10th Edition, but stopped for a while because it got too expensive to keep up. Recently, however, I started up again (not tournament play, since none of my cards are tournament legal, just casual play with friends). So I was wondering if anyone else here plays Magic, and if so, what type of mana you prefer.

I personally was very fond of the Rakdos deck in Dissension, which was a Red/Black deck built around the Hellbent mechanic. I also got a kick out of a Green/Red deck from the Guildpact series. And in Coldsnap, Blue/Black was the way to go for me (mainly because I had a creature that go more powerful as more snow lands were played).

So, let's hear it, folks!

Many moons ago I tried an online Magic game and could not figure out what was happening. As a sidenote, while I was waiting to speak with someone at the University, this guy was sorting his Magic cards across from me, and he was just so beautifully stereotypical.

It's been a while since I last played Magic, kind of miss it.
I have a Black Zombie deck and it is awesome. Also have a Red/White Samurai deck, but it is not nearly as good (or cool) as my Zombie deck.

I don't play magic. But on a side note-ish kinda thing, I've had a substitute teacher twice this week in English, both times there was nerdy (and rather fat, to be honest) kid who started teaching a really beautiful girl in my class how to play Magic.

Not a lot of love for Magic about the Escapist, according to the poll.

Can't say I was ever attracted either,

Though, I do enjoy Blue Mana.

How do you mean? Stereotypical nerd? (i.e. plastic framed glasses, pocket protector, etc.)

Pink or white, never just red. White soldiers mostly.
There's pink mana?

I have two single color decks. A white deck where I can literally just continuously gain life, and I have a green, mana ramp/large creatures deck. Which one I play usually depends on if I'm playing one person or multiple people.

I haven't played Maguc in ages. I think my last deck was from the Mirrodin series. I still have it somewhere. A white equipment/cat deck.

I also have a pretty weak red bolt deck, but white is my main.

I've never really "played" Magic. There was a time in high school when it first came out that I started collecting them, and I tried to learn, but I realized I was more interested in collecting than playing, and it was pretty expensive, so I stopped and just sold off the cards I had. Fortunately I had a few valuable ones, so I wound up breaking even.

Yeah, essentially. If it was nerdy, he was doing it.

I enjoy playing a blue/black Mill deck. Although a little cheap to use agisnt the opposing player, I find it fun to use against the stronger decks my brother had constructed. I owe all my thanks to my boyfried who sought out all the best mill cards to construct the fiendish thing.

The only things is, it dosen't handle zombie decks too well for obvious reasons.

(Black Magic why aren't you in this thread?!)
