Just a bit of curiosity, what format did you first use for music?

I started with Cassettes when I was really small, though I wasn't much into music until after CDs were popular and the norm.

Cassettes were what I grew up with. I even have some left from when I recorded video game music directly from the TV into my terrible kid tape recorder. Most recently I used a Weird Al set in my grandmother's old car. Interestingly enough, my fairly new stereo for my room has a cassette player along with the five CD slots and mp3 player port! :O

Given my age....it was records. Mostly 45s since I was but a wee tot. They quickly got usurped by cassettes though.

My dad used to play music for me on records a lot, and then some tapes, and then it moved over to CD's. And now I only use digital playback. However we did and still do own an 8-track player.

Technically I think for me it was cassettes since my bro had that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle single and I once got my mum to collect those newspaper tokens for that Toy Story singles aswell.
However I'm saying CD since that was the format that I started to buy CD for myself (my first was Eiffel 65- I Blue and Daft Punk- Discovery was my first album follow by Gorillaz).

We had cassettes around the has when I was really young, and I used to steal my sister's tapes (shitty music like Garth Brooks) and play them in my room. But I never bought music of my own back then.

The cassettes that were mine were for...

When I started buying my own music, it was in CD form. And my first CD was...ugh...Creed's Human Clay.

Good old LPs for me. I did miss out on the earlier record formats, though they were still around just for singles, but my time was before CDs even existed. Yes, I feel old.

I do actually miss those days somewhat simply because music was more about having a dedicated listening experience. You coudln't just take a record with you or rip the tracks onto a portable device, so you actually had to really make the decision to sit down and listen to an album to enjoy it.

Cassettes for me! Although, I did have some records lying around in a closet somewhere.

I started with cassettes, and with considerably older music too: My parents made me a master copy of Beach Boys and Gene Pitney because that was what I liked. I'm 22, by the way.
