Bulbasaur. I always start with grass pokemon, since the first two gyms are typically Rock and Water, so I can wreck through those two quickly while I build up a balanced team.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I started on Pokemon Blue for the Gameboy. Yeah.

Blastoise from Blue, of course! I mean, I just took a look at each starter's evolved forms and made the obvious choice. What would YOU have chosen: The green komodo dragon with a flower on its back, the generic looking red dragon, or the giant blue Turtle with canons sticking out of its shell?

It was either a Bulbasaur or a Squirtle... I'm pretty sure it was a Bulbasaur though. I hated how Venusaur looked though... this was in Leaf Green.

in red and blue, it came down to what final evolution I thought was coolest. So charmander. Should've taken bulbasaur, that fella was great for catching other pokemon. From ruby and sapphire onwards (didn't play silver/gold) I stayed with fire cause 2/3 times it was a fire and fighting pokemon, which kicked ass especially in diamond and pearl cause my rival had a water/steel type. steel < fighting

Didn't play past Yellow and even then i only touched yellow and didn't really play it so no biggy lol.
