Yes and No. I believe that video games have improved in terms of what we can do in them. We have come a long way from goldeneye still being a great game but only having one control stick. However I think a lot of games today are just lazy. The old platformers of the N64 were a blast such as Gex3 and I wish we cold return to the old goofiness of older games.
None. I was just thinking, since i've been playing games for ~15 years or so now, what my "golden age" would be. The fact is the answer for me would be right now, because my gaming experiences continually get better and better over time as the games get better. The rest is just nostalgia, because there are plenty of games to play now that are truly enjoyable.
