Which future do you think will occur? Here are the choices:

Post-Apocalyptic-Due to a lack of resources/world conflict, the world has been decimated by nuclear weapons. The only survivors are either mutated abominations or soulless killers. (ex. Mad Max, Fallout)

Space Travel-The human race takes to the cosmos, interacting with alien races of all shapes and sizes.(ex. Star Trek, Mass Effect)

Alien Attack-Forces from beyond the stars attack the Earth, either for conquest or harvesting us for food.(ex. War of the Worlds, Resistance)

Utopia-All nations of the world have come together to form a perfect society.(ex. Demolition Man)

Apocalypse-Turns out the Mayans/Christians/Native Americans where right.(ex. 2012)

Dystopia-The entire planet is bought out by an omega coorperation. (ex. Robocop)

Apocalypse! Well not in 2012, but I think that's what'll happen. Post-apocalyptic seems unlikely.

Eventually everything will be gone, so apocalypse is what I'll pick. You just have to look far in the future for that to happen. Hopefully it doesn't happen too soon.

The Same but with more Chrome stuff (Gray shining shirts are the way of the FUTURE!) and maybe the Korean Peninsula will be united, and maybe Islamic Terrorism will start to decline...

I would go with Post-Apocalyptic, except to say that while I think some life will survive, none of it is likely to be human, mutated human, or any other way related to humans except by distant evolutionary ties. Evolution will select for creatures that can survive in the trashed world we'll leave in our wake, so, probably the cockroach gene pool will be doing really well.

Coincidentially, authors who wish to be remembered for their works for the rest of eternity would be wise to see if they can get them translated into cockroach sometime between now and when we've filled all the bodies of water with oil and trash, irradiated the land, and generally raped the earth in every way possible.

Uhhh, resistance wasn't aliens... It was a Russian-engineered parasite..... wasn't it.

Gonna quote one of my favorite writers on this one:

Ray Bradbury said:
Predicting the future is much too easy. You look at the people around you, the street you stand on, the visible air you breathe, and predict more of the same.

I chose space travel because I'm optimistic and want it to happen. But the sad reality is probably post-apocalyptic

I reckon we will have hover cars, power laces, hover boards, kids will wear their trousers inside out and businessmen will wear two ties.

It better happen, otherwise my childhood dreams of the future are shattered

I'm rooting for space travel, but I guess that's still a long while away. Meh, it'll be pretty much the same as it has always been. Maybe some environmental bumps down the road, what with there not being any oil any more in a couple of decades. Or no precious metals to make microprocessors anymore in 20 years. Well, at least Apple won't rule the world...

You dont know that. It will certainly happen to earth, yes, but at that point we will most likely not be here anymore.
And when it happens to the universe billions of years in the future? Well, at that point we might not even be in this universe anymore.

Awesomeness. Not necessarily utopia, but awesome nevertheless. Awesome technology, but not necessarily enough for space travel.

I want space travel! It's a shame we probably won't get it before I die...

...and that there isn't anything interesting for light years around us that we can't learn about simply by looking at it.

You're also kinda lacking a "Dystopia" option. Corporations running a world with a big-brotherlike society where everything is controlled is not all that unlikely.
