It's something that's fun as hell!

At least that's been my experience. Even the arguments I have with my wife are fun. Then comes the making up... now THAT'S really fun.

Hmm, I suppose the best way to see if I found it I was actually in love was at that party where a cute chick started hitting on me and then my at-the-time-wife-to-be yelled "*****, he's mine!" before head butting her into the punch bowl. I rate that as one of the most seriously turned on moments in my relationship.

(Unfortunately I couldn't capitalize, because I knew she wasn't putting up the dodge when she said she had a headache that night)

Love is when you find out neither of you have an STD, both of you have good credit scores, and at least one of you owns a fuel efficient car.

In other words, love is compatability.

I believe love to be a mix of friendship "hey, that's a cool person", physical attraction "danm, they are hott", and being able to be with someone without getting on each other's nerves "let's hang out... forever"

... but someone already said that, so I'll give Bo Burnham's explanation instead:

I like to look at what the Bible has too say when it comes to what Love Truly is.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
It is not self-seeking, nor easily angered.
It keeps no record of wrongdoing.
It does not delight in evil,
But rejoices in the truth.
It always protects, trusts, hopes, and preserves.
There is nothing love cannot face;
There is no limit to its faith, hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things that last forever:
Faith, hope, and love;
But the greatest of them all is love.
Yup that's exactly how I see love and people should see it instead of saying its lust.
Amen brother.

why is there no option for "yes *sighs unhappily*? For there is love in the world sadly for men like me its unrequited and thats the one thing in the world that has truly harmed me I walked on a broken foot for 3 whole days before complaining, Ive had stitches 12 times and got hit with a goddamn dumptruck going 65mph but love is the one thing that has left me with a wound that will not heal. on the OQ though its a feeling of deep caring and a desire to spend time with someone and make them happy and to be happy with them its the feeling when youve had a horrible day/week/month/year/life but when your with them it doesnt seem to matter and your happy just because your with them.

Love is a rainy morning, a morning where your coffee maker is broken because your best friend smashed it with a crowbar last night, littering your kitchen with little bits of plaster and tile. You walk out the door to get to the coffee shop because how else are you going to stay alive?

Then suddenly, out of nowhere, someone walks right up and gives you a big ol' hug. And suddenly, you feel warm in your soaking wet clothing. You realize that you never noticed the painting on the walls, or the invigorating smell of coffee in the air. Your kitchen is still trashed, and there's still a huge line in the coffee shop, but none of it matters because you're in love, dammit, and everything is fucking beautiful.

...Well, you're the one who asked.

Very true. Directly above is the perfect example of why. No, not the next post up. A little bit lower. Yeah, that.

As for your poll question: does it exist? Well, my personal motto is: "I don't know shit, and no matter how much cool stuff I learn, I still don't really know shit." So, I don't know. But I like to think so. Something to keep me waking up in the morning and all that.

Love is pain.
I once dated girl in the tenth grade for a week then she dumped me for some douchebag...

AND NOW MY LIFE IS PAIN AND SUFFERING AND THE WHOLE WORLD'S GONNA HEAR ABOUT IT!!!

When something (a captain can feel love for his ship yes?) or someone makes you happy and you couldn't bear to see something bad happen to it, that's love.

Or just dancing around the desire to have sex with something...

I'm a hopeless romantic.

Love is when you realize that you will be very depressed without that other person in your life and are willing to do whatever to keep them there.

THE RACE MUST CONTINUE. THE RACE MUST CONTINUE! MY NUNUNGULATOR IS POINTING AT YOUR FAJOBIE, THE RACE MUST CONTINUE!

A less cynical version would concern that wonderful feeling; that however you feel about that special someone, it's mutual. And all is right with the world.

Love is the most awesome thing in the world. And the most awful one. It can make you feel as high as a kite and hurt you more than anything in the world.

And people say that book is worthless, sometimes I beg to differ. 'Tis a great quote indeed.

I usually resent anything Bible related, but I have to agree with that. That's one of the best definitions of Love I've ever read.
For me, Love means being completely devoted to the happiness of someone else, even if that means sacrificing your own.

I hate seeing this thread. People's answers are always invariably more depressing then the question (or the situation the invoked it).
Agreed, but what do you expect from a site thats mostly filled with misanthropic teens?
I don't expect anything less, that's why I hate it whenever someone makes this thread.

Certain chemicals in the brain like Oxytocin or whatever cause love.

However, love defined by me would be the ability for someone else's mood to affect yours. Like for instance if someone I "loved" was sad; it would have negative affect on my mood. Inversely someone I "loved" was happy; then that would positively affect my mood.

it's that feeling you get where you feel like you could spend all of life with them by your side, and who see's your faults, but looks past them, etc. someone who make you happy to still be alive.
Damn it I wanted to do that.
Just as I saw this thread, I thought about it :D

OT: I guess we all have our own definition of what love is. I think of love as being connected to your mate, knowing, experience & living together.

If we knew what love was, then it wouldn't be such a big deal when it screws you over. It is, in fact, the strongest emotion that will make you ignore all others, and all logic.
