Poll: What's the best Battlefield Theme?

Alright, fellow Escapies. Which version of the epic Battlefield theme is the best so far? Personally, I favour the Bad Company 1 tune. I kind of have a soft spot for the violin.

You missed Battlefield Heroes.

While it is by far the worst game, it certainly has the best theme tune.

It will get stuck in your head after 2 rounds.

I've always preferred the Battlefield 2142 theme. Bad Company would come in as a close second.

My heart will always be with BF 1942, as it is the first time I played an FPS of this scale. I truly loved that game, and I grew to adore the music. Battlefield Vietnam is also great, I adore it.

But in newer time I LOVE the Battlefield Heroes theme. Too bad it isn't in the poll, cause it is awesome!

I'm getting the feeling there isn't all that many people like me that have played all Battlefield games, from first release to date. Hands up all of those I might have enjoyed BF 1942 with in it's early days!

Out of the themes that you listed, I personally prefer Battlefield 2142, if only for the memories - 2142 is the Battlefield that I've played the most of.

Though I prefer the Wake Island 2142 Theme the most.

I don't spend enough time on wiki to know this trivia. And to be fair i listened to the first few seconds of each of them and then skipped to roughly the middle and yeah they have the same undertone and beat to it and everything else is basically replacing one instrument with another and giving them a different director while be reads from the same music sheet.

Well, I suggest you listen to the ENTIRE; Battlefield 1942, then Battlefield Vietnam, and finally Battlefield Heroes. There are a lot of differences in these themes, especially Vietnam. You'd have to be deaf to not hear it's something else entirely!

Battlefield 2142's theme was made to sound like the original 1942 deliberately. Battlefield 2's theme doesn't sound like any of the previous ones. Furthermore, the Battlefield Bad Company 2 theme. Explain...

My conclusion; maybe 3 or 4 of the themes sound the same, which they were made to do. Thats the idea with the thread I think. I cannot see your logic. Listen to more than 5 second's and you'll realize... And if you played the game you wouldn't have to check a wiki, I played BF1942 and Vietnam MANY years before Pirates of the Carribbean 1 went into production, same goes for Battlefield 2 and 2142 I think!

But finally; the above themes are all version of the same song; and thats the thing with this thread. Which version is the best =3. So yes, they do sound similar. *lick*

The Bad Company theme really gives me the chills in the intro movie. I love it. Battlefield 2 theme is also great. You just don't get tired of this theme.

And yes, they all have something different about them. One has a trumpet the other has a violin. It doesn't matter since they all have the same undertone. They play the same 6 notes repeatedly till about half way in where they go quiet for a solo of the instrument of choice to play before fading back into the 6 notes.
My conclusion: Time is irrelevant. I CAN hear the differences but they are NOT enough for me to call it a new song all together. It's like playing Breaking the habit by linkin park on the piano. It's still the same song.

Well; saying something is a rippoff of a thing that hasn't been made yet (if you get me), doesn't make much sense. It's like saying the Old Ford GT40 ripped off the new GT40, when there are more than 40 years between them! What you in essence is saying by pointing out that "this ripped off that" is that the new GT40 actually ripped off the old one =3. The time will always be an issue. No matter how hard you wish, it doesn't go away!

Time has gone by and it has changed a little for every new version, but it still looks like a 3-series! And thats "the point" (imagine yatzee saying that). It's a new version of the same thing. It's supposed to be similar to the previous one. They are trying to make something "old" into something "new and modern". Put in a new engine, remodel the front and rear bumpers, some slightly new interior; thats it. It doesn't take more. People wanting to buy a 3-series will still get what they are looking for,only slightly modernized.

My conclusion: Time is irrelevant. I CAN hear the differences but they are NOT enough for me to call it a new song all together. It's like playing Breaking the habit by linkin park on the piano. It's still the same song.

Yes, it is. Thats the point with playing "Breaking the habit" by Linkin Park on the piano. A new version of something that exsist! Go to Youtube and find Richard Cheese's version of "Chop Suey". It's the same song, but yet it's new and interesting. A jazzy version of a classic metal song.

If you've heard one then you can take a wild stab at what the next one will sound like. and on the time subject. It doesn't really matter. Pirates is just more memorable and battlefield's songs make me think it's about to change into pirates mid-song. I'm just a little weird like that. If i start humming chocolate rain i might end it humming 19-2000 by gorillaz, it's just the way the song flows so forget about it.

Yes it's still the same song! I'm telling you, thats the point! The brilliant idea behind the cracker! The planning behind the fungus! We agree that it's still in essence the same song, what they did is make new versions of it.

There are many versions of a lot of diferent songs out there. Some are good, some are bad. Take Rolling Stones "I can't get no satisfaction". Ageless classic. It has been covered 98(!) times by various bands and artists. Who has be best version? Comes down to who's listening i guess. Some of these songs sound wildly diferent form the original song by the creators. It's still the same song, but it's something new still. The same notes, new instruments and maybe a solo or two.

Yes, it's M&Ms. They are indeed the same on the inside, but the outside is what makes them stand apart. If it didn't have an outside, you wouldn't be able to tell the blue ones from the red ones, but they have so you can! It's simply not the same. If you've had 1 M&M (and it was green, damn it!) you can have a wild stab at what color the next will be, but you won't know before you've gotten it out of the bag and seen it for yourself.

And I fully understand what your getting at with this. But you did state that it sounds like it ripped of PotC, which is dificult when it wasn't made at the time. I'm just saying; you can't call time irrelevant just like that. Maybe we could just say that PotC improved the theme? I'll forget about it tho, for you

Yea! You can't help but feel alive when you hear this. Also the feeling when this starts playing after a big victorious fight is wonderful. (I'm a game music fanatic)
