Poll: what's with the new pokemon???

Listen son, I've been playing since Red and Blue. I played it in BLACK AND WHITE GRAPHICS (Well, grey and beige...)! Don't you complain about overt cuteness, it's been there since the beginning of the series.

whoa, bro, that's where I'm coming from. I've played every game from the ORIGINAL gameboy to today and i feel that the new game doesn't quite live up to my poke-favorites of old. but, i'm still just getting into it, so we'll see what happens.

I've been playing Pokemon Black for a few days now and i have to say that this is the 1st game that I've played other then Final Fantasy X-2 that I've been ashamed to let other people know that I'm playing. Given that the graphics are great, game-play is solid, rival fights are frequent and challenging, and gym leaders leave you with a genuine feeling on accomplishment... does anyone else feel that this game is a bit GIRLY?? All of the NPCs in game describe their Pokemon as "cute", "adorable", there's a POKEMON DRESS UP mini-game which precedes a musical, and to top it off, I currently have a flying pink blob covered in purple flowers as my psychic powerhouse. Tell me what you guys think.

Well, I see were your coming from, and here's what I think: the NPC's have always adressed their Pokemon in diffreent fashions, like cute, but they also adress them as tough or cool. Look at Team Plasma, their views on Pokemon shape their opinions and actions in the game, so I wouldn't say it's more girly now, you've may have just started to pick up on that specific aspect. Also, I'd say that the new Pokemon seem so different (girly included) simply because it's evolving (no pun intended). It's growing from morphed mammals, birds, fish and bugs into more abstact things like dreams, hence Munna (which is just a cannon of Special Attact). So I guess what I'm trying to say is that Pokemon is continuing to grow as it goes from generation to generation and becuase of all the new ideas and additions, certain elements that were always there have become more noticable by contrast. Hope this hepls!

What do I think? I think if you're so insecure in yourself to worry about the contents of a Pokémon game, then you got issues.
Then again, bear in mind that this is still a game where you hunt and train wild animals for violent pit fights where the little chaps are routinely poisoned, immolated and thoroughly beaten to a pulp.
Maybe you'll feel better then.

As for me, I'm going to put my Munna into the dress-up competition. He'll wear a top-hat. And it will be fabulous.

Well thats hardly a fair comparison. You took the third line evolution and compared it to basic forms. as was stated in my previous post, Charmander is a very girly pokemon.

You do realize that one of the first gen was a racist stereotype, another was a mime, and three of the grass lines were giant flowers, right? That and the original Magmar looked like a water baby (which is highly ironic), mewtwo looked like he was constipated, and charizard looked like he had down syndrome.

I wish I knew the thread this was in, or I'd just quote myself from it, but suffice to say, the team jumped the shark long before that. Every generation has bad pokemon designs. Perhaps if they didnt have to keep redesigning old pokemon, they could come up with new and better ones.

Also, I dare you to look Pichu or Pikachu in the eyes and tell me there is not a massive "Awwwww!" running through your mind at that moment. If you say there isn't, you are so lying dude!

Though I will digress, the first and third generation of Pokemon looked the best. But Black and White's variety isn't that bad either. Not the greatest, but definitely not "bad" either.

Edit: Also, to the Milotic bashing: Shut up! Milotic is one of the most amazing Pokemon in the entirety of the series. To evolve from something as ugly and fucking annoying to try to catch as Feebas into such a beautiful and powerful creature is definitely a prop for it.

I really liked Charizard's, Mewtwo's, and Vileplume's design, thank you. I don't think you can begrudge them for making a lot of Pokemon based off of nature; there are lots of flowers in nature, too. Do you step outside, see a rose, and shout: "ANOTHER Flower?! Real original, God!"?

Anyways, it's not just the icecream pile. Aside from the Legendaries and Zoroark, I don't really find any of the designs appealing. And Zoroark is just because I have a fox fetish.

The fact that I don't like Serperior, when my snake fetish is FAR more developed than my fox fetish, is saying something.

Post ANY Pokemon from gen 5 that you think I'll enjoy and try and surprise me. I just... Really don't like a lot of them.

Oh, I forgot, thunder zebra is an EXCEPTION that proves the rule.

OT: It's been one, long, slow downhill for Pokemon ever since Silver and Gold. Sure, they have all had some great parts to them, but overall, it's belly up for Pokemon.

People have been saying that since fucking Pokemon Blue, sir. It really doesn't make you look cool, edgy, or "informed" to say that Pokemon is "belly up". Pokemon is going to last quite some time from now, and whom knows what the next generation will look like?

Personally, I'm intrigued.
