I've had to just pick Rock 'n' Roll because I like most rock subgenres to an extent. Straightforward rock (the Black Keys, Franz Ferdinand), indie rock (Sparklehorse, Warpaint), alternative rock (Muse, Radiohead, late-period Linkin Park), progressive rock (Mike Oldfield, Yes, Pink Floyd), soft rock (Coldplay, U2), hard rock (Foo Fighters, Alter Bridge), even the odd bit of punk rock (though I'm still wary of that - Green Day's American Idiot is pretty much it so far). I'm partial to most other kinds - hip-hop can be fun (Dr. Steel), I like a few metal subgenres (though oddly, only the ones other metal fans seem to dismiss, such as Drone and Nu - e.g Sunn O))) and early Linkin Park respectively) and electronic music can be beautiful (Vangelis). I've even been thinking about trying out classical recently - any recommendations?
