Hacker, stealthy spy, gun-toting super soldier? Or something more obtuse? What's your strategy?

I'm working ona shock trooper with good hacking skills. I sneak around, hack turrets and robots, and plant emp/concussion landmines (aiming for an stun or temporary incapacitation). I've also upgraded myself with the freefall module, eliminated recoil, and can jump nine feet in the air. My strategy is to use incapacitation grenades to stun my opponents, lining them up for a deathly burst from my silenced combat rifle/machine pistol/pistol (armor piercing ftw!). However, I sneak alot. I want the upperhand first, and I will avoid a fight if possible (odds not in my favor).

So, what's your Deus Ex strategy? Please tell!

Stay out of sight and punch people. Hard. And often. Especially that breakdancing guy in the Detroit subway.

If I get discovered and things go tits up, I lets my revolver do the talkin' for meh.

My strategy is to try and generally fail to understand just what it is I'm supposed to be doing.

Well i originally went for a stealthy non lethal weapon user. - i after the first mission i realized this wouldn't work.

Now i have a high hacking skill (never thought i'd go with that). I use stealth all the time but i have no stealth augmentations. I often get found so i'm forced to use a pistol or a combat rifle. But i use the stun gun whenever i can!

so my strategy? no idea.

(im still in the early parts of the game. so perhaps i dont have enough experience with the game.)

The hacking, I am a damn master at. All I have upgraded is the security system level. Aside from that, I am disturbingly fast to the point it creeps even me out. I then also sneak around almost all the time and avoid doing anything to anyone. But when things get pretty bad, "I swing my god-modded pistol back and forth!"

Got me my silenced 10mm pistol. That thing is my best friend.

Also a bit of a hacker, too. I really enjoy that mini-game. I often look for any alternative routes I can find, and take the one that is the most quiet and out of the way.

Investigating the reaction between 10mm rounds and an opponent's kidneys.

I'm trying to clear it on top difficulty for the first playthrough, which tends to necessitate a shoot first policy.

Well I went the non-lethal approach after the first level with liberal use of the stun gun and a few pep charges (but not many) as well as numerous takedowns, but eventually by the time I got to the docks I realized that I was unfortunately not capable of getting the non-lethal achievement BECAUSE either A: I killed people in the prologue because well... I had a gun and that was about it. B: I'm pretty sure a single tank exploded in the radius of a PEP blast and so... well they may have died.

So... I decided that after leaving the Harvester sewers and hideout that for these docks they were going to deal with my wrath and that they did, while computers and security were ALWAYS disabled and left at that no matter where I went, with intermixed amounts of large to small numbers of guards or scientists being unconscious... in this case I would take no garbage especially since they seemed to gain sick pleasure out of what they were doing with their trafficking and so I hacked the first security post before the gate, set the robots to enemies and watched as for the first time I got points for kills, then I continued with all other 4 security posts and had them kill too... I considered the inner warehouse but after an alarm came on from me on the upper balcony and having trouble being stealthy without the cloak (which I never used), I decided the best thing to do was to take them all out... so I used the laser-rifle I gained access to from the hideout and essentially had them all dead in about a minute... then I disabled more security which was redundant as an emp had fried the robot and ... well I realized how bloody I'd been... and so I headed to the next place.

Suffice it to say I only killed people in that situation, no where else.

ALTHOUGH, I took HUGE amount of replay time trying to protect the pilot in that one point, to the point I unleashed all my stun grenades and gas grenades and pulses and tranquilizers taking them out as quickly as possible (until I watched a video after I completed it which showed the more efficient and marksmany way of doing it nonlethally).

But for sake of achievement I have no desire to replay with being nonlethal like that... next time people will see my marksman abilities with a fletchette equipped Assault Rifle.

Oh technically I waited too long in the beginning and the gas killed the hostages... got really annoyed at that when I realized near the end of the game that I made that happen.

I'm a hack/stealth/social kinda guy (despite having no stealth augs and the cloak's only half upgraded) simply because i want to read people's email and take all their stuff in that specific order

I find myself actually moving bodies in this game. That's fucking unprecedented!

I usually go non lethal (PEPS is amazing), unless i need to switch to lethal weapons to survive. Unfortunately the 10mm pistol is getting underpowered even with the damage upgrade... Goodbye old friend

I play a bit of a mix.

I hack a lot, sneak fairly often and kill regularly.
Depends on the missin, and what I feel like at that moment.

Stealth into security room, knock out guards, hack the turrets and robots to my side, creep away while they provide a distraction.

Stealth if I can. Generally, I like to get in and get out with minimal impact. I skip knocking out many guards because it's not necessary. However, things get more difficult later in the games when the enemies are more than gang members.

Well, I put most of my early points in hacking, because that's the one you need the points for. And now I prefer to hack anything, even if I found the login for it, since it nets xp and sometimes cash. But since you can't just hack, I mostly sneak around (Air vents FTW!). Haven't purchased any real combat upgrades (just finished Montreal) except the multi-takedown, so I guess sneaky spy is the best description.

One more to the stealth crowd here.

I did get rather annoyed though when on the first boss you're suddenly caught with your pants down - after a cutscene where you walk in like you own the place.

Really, how hard is it to realise I'd never blithely walk straight down the middle of a hallway, without even equipping a weapon?

Stealth. Fail at stealth. Run away like a little girl. Punch people in the face and then spend half an hour hacking and reading e-mails about people going to the theatre.
