I know Freak Show isn't even over yet but it almost is and it's my second favorite season behind Asylum. Murder House was good but not great and Coven was very hit and miss and my least favorite thus far.

What's your favorite season?

Coven just came out on Netflix (Five minutes into episode one, so good thread timing), so I only have the first two to go by.

I liked Murder House the best, but Asylum was definitely good. I love this series - Its nice seeing a TV show that's not afraid, and in fact revels in, letting shit hit the fan, and never letting up.

Just got to the part of Coven where the girl starts explaining how witches work. I'm seeing what you mean by hit or miss - didn't take long for the feel of the season to go wonky.

EDIT: On episode 3 of season 3. Christ, this girl is dumb beyond words.

I'm a fan of Asylum. Murder House didn't found its groove until halfway. Coven was great until it didn't know what to do with itself.

As for Freakshow?Presenting the freaks into a mostly positive light made it not scary.

I have a question for American Horror Story fans.
I like the concept of the show and I really want to get spooked, I tried Freakshow without being too impressed by it. What's the best series to start off on? Or should I just continue with Freakshow?

Their all pretty dumb, but Zoe is definitely the worst. I understand she's new to the whole witching thing, but god damn.

Horror House had a haunted house that everyone was helpless against. Asylum had a punch of bad people doing bad things, and a Devil dancing through the terror. Coven so far (I'm on the episode where zombies attack the house) seems to be about dumb witches doing dumb things, and then scrambling to escape the consequences.

Yeah, they're all pretty dumb. But it's always fun to see Fiona put them in their place and be an uber *****.

Season one is pretty good if you can find binge watch it. I think the longer it takes to go through it loses steam. I went back and binged watched it a few weekends ago.

OT: My favorite was Asylum. I can't recall ever thinking that season was slogging along.

I felt coven was pretty much all slog. But I liked Kathy Bates being added to the cast.

I want next season to be a vampire western taking place in a silver rush city in Nevada. The vampires are concerned with all the silver being found. Billy the Kid dead? Nah, he became a vampire.

And I want David Bowie to play a mysterious-loner Pony Express rider. AHS writers are welcome to use this idea.

I've only watched the first two with my roommate, but I guess I'd say they're both pretty equal with Asylum slightly winning out just for how silly it's concept was. It's been a while since I've seen a show try to incorporate so many completely disparate bad guy tropes and not utterly fail.
Cause seriously Nazis, aliens, serial killers, demons, evil nuns, evil santa, and mutants all in one season got a little wonky.

Though I have to ask is the title of the show an in joke or something? Because so far both my roommate and I have found this show hilarious but lacking any semblance of horror.

eh, i've only seen the first two, and overall i'd say i preferred the first one. asylum was awesome, but just seemed to go batshit insane towards the end and i stopped caring at that point. before the last 2 or 3 episodes though, asylum was fantastic, i just felt the ending and conclusion of murder house was better.

Murder House was only half-good... The latter half was good enough to make me continue watching despite only seeing the first two episodes prior...
I never finished Asylum and, based on what I haven't seen yet, I'm REALLY missing out...
Coven was the first season I saw from start to finish and... Random Argument Man hit the nail on the head on that one since I wanted to enjoy it a lot more than I should beforehand...
Freak Show... uh... I got nothing... Right when [REDACTED] "died", I have NO idea how I should feel about this particular season yet... other than I FUCKING LOVE THIS VERSION OF THE SERIES' THEME MUSIC!

So overall, it's a toss between Murder House and Asylum until I see the rest of Asylum... with Coven coming in the rear from a biased perspective, storyconcept-wise, and Freak Show on just its rendition of the theme music in general so far...

Season 1, episode 1.
It went downhill from there.
I was really spooked after watching the first episode, so much in fact that I seriously considered not watching any more of the series.

Then I watched episode 2 - 6, not scary at all. A little creepy, but nothing like episode 1.

Gave up on the show after that.
