It would depend on the game. The views you listed work almost perfectly for those games. Although I prefer 3rd for RPG/shooters, 2nd for Platformers, 1st for FPSes, and 4th for pokemon and Animal Crossing. Make sense?

For the "other" option would 5th person be playing as someone watching someone play the game?

As it is, the question doesn't seem to make much sense unless you're talking about which genres you prefer. Games pick their point of view based on what works, and what works tends to depend on the genre.

3rd person is my preferred. I generally despise 1st person view as it makes me feel claustrophobic or boxed in and limited. I don't mind 4th person either, like in Titan Quest or Baldur's Gate. But yes, 3rd person is my preferred. I have little experience with 2nd person so I can't really form an honest opinion in that field.

Yes but im asking in the best game of those perspectives you enjoy which do you still prefer. I dont really like 1st so I usually avoid games with it and prefer 3rd and 4th most of the time so Id pick one of those.

If a game has melee combat, I prefer third person. If it has mainly shooting, I prefer first person. If a game has both, third person.

1st and 3rd depending. Mostly 1st, for everything from shooters to horror (eg, I found Amnesia much better than Dead Space for this sort of thing). 3rd racing games or for Swordfighting based rpgs, eg. Mount & Blade or Skyrim.

It really depends on the game.

I like 1st for the precision.
I like 2nd for the gameplay style it comes with.
I like 3rd because you get to see your character do the awesome things, not just see the results in 1st.
I like Pokemon.

Shooters , i prefer 1st person .
Horror , i prefer 3rd person
JRpgs? I prefere japanese 3rd person
Wrpgs? I don't like wrpgs so none.

Honestly it depends, I usually like 4th person as I'm into tactical rpgs and I'm big on metal gear soid and pokemon. i don't like 3rd person over the shoulder that much but in something like a 3d platformer it works best, it's also one of the reasons I don't like little big planet that much. having a small but still crucial for gameplay 3rd dimension but a 2 dimensional camera is frustrating.

Edit: yes I know there is no such thing as 4th person but you know what I mean.

I almost always play through my character's view, exept when i'm driving or looking around, for obvious reasons
