I'm wondering because I do it.
I know that there could be plenty of different reasons why people here would try to find out why someone was Banned\Suspended\Etc. The poll isn't made to see what everyone reason is ...just to see how many actually does it.

I know I do it because I'm a curious cat.
I'm sure some do it to because it's entertaining to read threads that lead to bans/suspensions/etc. I also believe some will do it b/c they know the person that was smacked by an administrative action.

I certainly do, I want to know the details of why this person has come under mod wrath, might be useful to me in the future, in keeping as far from the banhammer as possible.

I'm abstaining from your poll on the basis that there is no "ryan seacrest" option.

But yeah, it's usually good for a laugh and even when it isn't it's usually informative in some way.

I do it because it helps me to understand what is and isn't acceptable. Sometimes I find that despite the (quite helpful) Banhammer stickies there are still grey areas, and watching other people mess it up in practice gives me a better sense of what will attract moderator attention.

All the time, for the same reason I laugh when someone gets pulled over by the police.

EDIT: Yup, I even looked at the one in this thread. Nice to get an example in the thread.

Sometimes, out of curiosity or sometimes either disbelief ("How did [x] ever earn a hammering?") or satisfaction ("Ha! So what did [y] do to finally run out of moderator slack?") though I'm often telling myself it's to avoid getting nailed for whatever.

Truth be told, though, it's mostly rubber-necking at the crash.

No, the potential to get redirected to goatsee is far too high.

[div class='ban_reason']User was put on probation for: [a href='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvK0gXJaiw0&feature=related'] For example[/a]. (Don't worry, it's safe for work.)[/div]

Quote me and see it just leads to a youtube video if you're not sure.
