Born early 80's, lived my first 10 years in one of the more 'ghetto' corners of Europe. Didn't have jack to do but go to school or be an arcade barnacle. Arcades were my respite from that commie wonderland. Arcades were my church. Once we made the move to Germany, I finally discovered Mega Drives and Super Nintendos and GameBoys, oh my! I saved up for my first GameBoy 3 cents at a time -- 180 dollars worth. And so on and on it went. Gaming was some truly next-level shit and I knew it. Plus, I'm glad my developing years lined up so perfectly with the rise of gaming, giving me full appreciation of every major advance in gaming tech. Consoles bringing arcade-level games to your livingroom? Been there. Rise of 3D? Done that. Online multiplayer? Oh hell yes. So many things young'uns take for granted today, I got to witness willing itself into existance. Its been a hell of a ride.
