The absolute worst example, until I am proven wrong, lies below.

It doubles as an endurance test. How long can YOU watch it?

I made it to the end...Because I managed to beat the game 2 years ago.

[HEADING=1]DISCUSSION VALUE, if you skip the video[/HEADING]
Has your game ever shoved its "message" down your throat like Avatar (You know, that really high grossing movie?) did? The game can be good, bad, anything. It could make your game more/less fun.

Anyway, my experience is with Eternal Sonata...I liked most everything about it. The art style, the music, the real time/turn based combat system. But the preachy story...that persists after the end credits. The faux philosophy...Ugh.

You know, that is exactly how I found it, and the story is the reason I've still not finished. I just felt no really urgency or need to get to the next point in the game.

I don't really mind the whole philosophy aspect of games. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I did, considering most of the Metal Gear Solid series is about the idea of war, soldiers, combat, the politics of a shadow world government, information control in the digital age and a bunch of other stuff.

Haven't watched the video yet, will do so after I finish this episode of Toradora!

It's the credits, no way I'm watching that. Anything during the credits has to be awesome for me to sit there the whole time and just watch.

No, that's listening to Navi from LoZ on repeat for 2 hours.

Stupid Namless.

So yeah, I'll go through the whole thing, unless I actually have to watch it, as I'll get bored.

Metal gear can be quite bad for that sort of thing as well. It can get quite annoying usually I just mute and wander off when games get like that.

This is like if you strained all the talky scenes from The Matrix series through a Final Fantasy game and sprinkled on some Metal Gear Solid.

I can't say I've played a game that forces any messages down your oesophagus. Also, is a 'brightly glowing Astra' an Astra as in the car?

Yeah, basically that.

On a loop.

For 2 hours.

He went on for longer...

Watched it all. It was worth it for the last 20 seconds of lulsworthy 'death is inevitable' shtick.

Funny stuff.

I never have been force fed philsophy in games, thank god.
I highly doubt that. A hell of a lot of games have underlying philosophical or political themes. They might not be as blatant as Eternal Sonata or Metal Gear Solid, but they're definitely there.

As I'm watching Deadwood as I type this, I haven't watched this yet. However, I'd probably watch all of it for sheer 'lulz'.

I can't recall any games I've played as being preachy, although CoD4 clearly pointed out to me that nukes are bad bad things.

However, I am reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand at the minute, and good gods that woman's ideals just ooze from the pages like a thick muck. Some of the characters are just laughable, like the Dean, heck the whole architectural community in that book, it's a friggin' caricature!

I just got up to the guy with the top hat, and I was expecting some high pitched voice, seeing as he was scrawny. And then he sounds like Barry White.

Man I cannot stand the voice acting in JRPGs.

Having just come off some Plato, I can safely assert that ALL philosophy is faux.

I'm rather confused though. I get that it's trying to say it's message but on the whole it just confused me more and more.

Think I've found a new ringtone - used to have leek spinning but removed it when the ready break advert started using it because people thought I had a ready break ringtone - replaced it with Peter Griffen humming the star wars theme from the end of Blue Harvest :D

As for preachy games, not really come across one that's too preachy in my book - except maybe "war, war never changes"..
