It's really tough to choose between Alan Rickman and David Bowie. I clicked on Alan Rickman, but I think I should have gone with David Bowie as the guy was such a unique and talented performer who kept evolving his craft.

Gonna have to add Zsa Zsa Gabor to that list now.

She's dead at age 99....and there's still 13 more days left of this shitty year.

I'd have to say Gene Wilder. For someone like me who's kind of a snob when it comes to comedies... he's in some of the greatest of all time.

Prince is a close second. The man was a musical genius. His persona and antics often overshadowed it, but he had very genuine amazing musical talent.

And he didn't make the list but the death of Andrew Sachs hit me pretty hard as well. We'll miss you Manuel.

Oh and Jerry Doyle. Its kind of odd to see how many of the Babylon 5 cast have died since it ended.

Rickman all the way. He was so iconic as Snape, and as a kid who read all the books and was excited for the movies, he made Snape one of my favorite characters in Harry Potter.

Lemmy Kilmeister. I know hes not on the list but fuck it.
It does feel to me like it all started with Lemmy kicking the bucket.
Christmas have ended. Lemmy died. Then 2016 came.
You can count me in.

Count me in with the people saying David Bowie. I was a big fan of his work, it meant a lot to me and his death came as a great surprise. I wasn't aware he had cancer, I remember quite vividly that I was in my car when the news came on the radio and I had to stop for a moment to digest them. Very few celebrity deaths left me shocked, the last one being that of Sir Terry Pratchett, another artist who meant a lot to me, his books had a greater impact on my sense of humour and my attitude towards fantasy as a literary genre than anything else did.

This year didn't start very well, neither on a personal, nor on a general level. First thing me and many of my countrymen heard was that there was a case of gangrape in Cologne, an act of unimaginable cruelty noone thought would be possible here in Germany. then Bowie died, only days after. And I though it couldn't get any worse from there but it did. Rickman died. I lost my job. I had a car accident. Trump was elected. I lost another job. Someone drove a truck into a christmas market. I mean, why would anyone do that?

What I'm saying is, this was a bad year on practically every level. At least I and mostly everyone I care for managed to stay healthy. Maybe that's the best we can hope for.

Ali.

Never been into Prince or Bowies music or watch too many films, but Ali is a true icon not just in America or Boxing but it sport in general, a true inspiration.

Fuck your list, 2016 killed a fucking immortal. A man who we all joked died every year for decades, but we knew would out live us all. A man who they built a website for just to track how much more alive he was then every one else. Ab Vigoda, the Endless will live on in memory of just how brutal a year this has been.

Cohen. Especially considering his final album (which also came out this year) is essentially him singing about how he's about to die.

Couple that with the fact that he died about a day after my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer (he was one of my dad's favourite artists ever) and it just felt more personal. My dad should end up mostly fine since the cancer was caught early enough for it to be surgically removed in early 2017.

Unfortunately, I am only allowed to put 8 options on the poll. Found out today that George Michael is dead.

George Martin. The Man helped with almost all the Beatles Albums, especially the more Orchestral ones. May he rest in peace with George and John.

I am tempted to do start another thread which list some of the recent celebrity deaths that I wasn't able to put on this list. I won't, because that would be too depressing. If someone else want to do that, feel free to do so. This year was just crazy. Today I was reminded that Pat Summitt died this year. If you don't know who she is, look her up. She was an inspiring, ground-breaking, successful women basketball coach.

Carrie Fisher's.

And it's indicative of how bad this year has been that there isn't even room for a new name on the list!

Huh, every time I see a celeb's name on the FB news thing, I'm immediately suspecting they've died.
