Which current gen console has the greatest online gaming community? For me it breaks down like this: The Xbox 360 has the most hardcore fanbase, with many players being "tryhards", spending excessive hours on a game to the point where they effortlessly beast everybody else and make their gaming experience less enjoyable. You also come across a lot of pre-pubescant boys that make things VERY annoying with their constant inane high-pitched chatter most of the time along the lines of "Gay! Noob! You suck!". Why is a 10 year old playing an 18 rated game anyway? I have met some cool people over Xbox Live however and the fact that you can chat outside of games makes it easier to make friends and gaming buddies. The PS3 community seems slightly more laid back than the 360 crowd with far less hackers and young kids, unfortunatley however most people don't have headsets and most of the time there is very little or no communication between players. This is something Sony needs to sort out. As for the Wii...what community? Feel free to discuss the pros and cons of PC gaming too.

Well, as you said, 360 is basically full of either 10 year old kids who annoy the hell out of you or people who are total dicks, next to nobody has a mic on PS3, and the Wii online community is barely in existence. I don't really play PC much but I will probably say their the most... civilized?

I know there are a lot of 10 year old kids on Xbox... however when the beta dashboard came out I lost party chat so my friends and I had to use Halo: Reach in game chat and we had amazing fun, we met tons of fun people and had a great time. Those free included mics are actually kinda great.

Have no idea about the PS3.

I've also met a ton of fun people on PC and also a ton of elitists... PC also has its fair share of 10 year olds/asshats.

Wii? What community? (I kid)

The way I see it

360: Immature and full of "hardcore" players. All around aggressive players.
PS3: Keep to themselves I gusss? (Never hear anything about them)
PC: Full of snobby elitist dicks
Wii: Doesn't even exist

Of course I'm just stereotyping here but thats how I see it. I really think there is no such thing as best gaming community. Each side has their pros and cons.

They're all terrible if you ask me. Belonging to a community solely based on your console of choice is stupid.

Well I don't have to listen to people on the PC unless they in my TS which if they are I already like them/they will be swiftly banned if they are an asshole so I am going with PC for that reason.

As a general stereotype, Xbox 360 users are full of either achievement addicts (that would be me), angry kids over the mic or 'frat boys'. The PS3 has a chilled out community, but are somewhat distant from themselves. They're like one of those edgy modern artists, so it can feel a bit unfriendly and lonely by comparison. Then there's the Wii community, who are full of Nintendo fanboys weaned from growing up on the NES / SNES and all the beloved Nintendo games and icons, or the large communities of casuals who don't much care for the community itself. (let's face it, your mum, grandparent or young child probably won't concern themselves much with the online gaming community at large)

But you know, these are fairly unfair generalisations. Reinforcing these stereotypes by stating them in threads like these and having a "who is better" discussion never ends well. Any community can have perfectly reasonable individuals. Judge the community by the person, not by the group.

I suppose i should cast a vote. Mine goes to the PS3 community.

This thread is not going to end well...

I think there are mostly nice people to found on every system, along with a more vocal minority who are nasty.

you have to buy your own headset with the ps3 so they don't talk to each other much. and 360 is obviously sucktasic AND you have to pay to use it, WHY?!? i hardly use PC (my comp can handle most of it but my wireless connection devise is crap). theier are good and bad people on all of these choices sometimes your just unlucky.

PC gamers are mostly like dads with boring office jobs, in my experience. It's great being in a game with a bunch of guys who are all half-assing it because we're busy having a civil debate over which is better in an Old Fashioned, bourbon or rye.

The correct answer to that question is rye, by the way. Sazerac, if you can get it.

I'll divide the communities into two categories:

ONLINE COMMUNITY:
PS3: good community. some little kids/fanboys, but they are few and far between. amount of mics depends on the game (ie. MAG=lots of mics, CoD=very few mics)
360: lots of little kid"Z" (BECUZ XBAWX HAZ HAYLOW!). some are racist, some are fragheads, some are tryhards, all have high-pitched voices.
Wii: pretty much no "community" to speak of. just people playing online. is actually kinda nice in some cases. no one can annoy anyone else by any means other than sucking at the game.
PC: there's some tryhards, etc. but you get those in every community. depends on the games too. TF2 has an AMAZING community. great great great community in general.
WINNER: PC

OFFLINE COMMUNITY:
PS3: mainly depends on the person you're talking to. as usual, Sony is the middle-ground, with Xbox featuring mostly FPSes and such, Wii with family fare, the PS3 has a good mix of both.
360: like before, lots of fraghead 10 year olds. like PS3, mainly depends on the person you're talking to.
Wii: picks up the slack of the offline community. sure, there's lots of kids buying third party "gameZ", but there's still a good hardcore crowd (ie. people who play Monster Hunter Tri, Goldeneye, etc.)
PC: you can't do offline with other people on a PC. disqualified.
WINNER: Wii

Really can't be generallised at the end of the day; every community has its legends and dickheads.

So yeah, this thread is really pointless tbh. It's like saying which gaming forum has the best community, eh? (Besides the Escapist, obv;D)

Animal Crossing for the Nintendo DS. Everybody just buys me furniture and waters my plants for me when I'm gone.

Best online community ever!

It's not 'which console' it's 'which game'.

Games which are built around co-op have the best communities - Left4Dead 2, killing floor.

Competitive games are filled with whining little shits who need to be duct-taped.
Seriously.
The only way those games are fun anymore is by fucking up your own team because everybody takes it so seriously.

Other, the best community is your friends that you play with. But if you want to meet new people than don't go on PS3, too quiet. Just take the console you like, and you will eventually meet some awesome people. Don't think twice about playing more games if you had a fun game with some people. I've met most of my friends in games like this (SC2, LoL, all that stuff)
