Microsoft's RROD's are easily worse than PSN being down. I'd take the PSN situation any day over having to be raged out on a Red ring.

Blaming Sony for PSN being hacked is a bit like blaming a bank for being robbed.

Meh, i'll stick to my PS3.
I don't care about the breach. Took me 10 minutes tops to call in and get my card cancelled. No problems whatsoever.
As of actual problems: I still say Xbox have had it rough from the get-go. RRoD was horrible design but preety much fixed with the slim version. My brother also complained alot about the loud noices the old one made. When i tried it at his place i actually understood why he complained. But that was but a small issue.
As of games? Currently i would say PS3 is the winner here. This year seems to be a year where Sony brought their big guns out. Resistance 3 (not sure if it is coming in 2012 or 11) Uncharted 3 (Uncharted is a great series) Infamous 2 (Seems to be preety good, not a huge fan myself but hey, people like it) Motorstorm Apocalypse and the rest of the games that have allready come out: Little big planet 2 (likeing it quite abit) Killzone 3 (A decent shooter, never liked it though) Yakuza 4 and ofcourse SOCOM4.
That's a preety good lineup. I've failed to see the Xbox lineup as much since i dislike their series (Gears of War is kinda dull... I would LOVE to have Halo. Played it a couple of times and i love it)

So yea, as of online people have allready discussed how MS fails to deliver to people with free membership.

So i will stay with my PS3 and PSN+ till the next gen comes out. Then i'll see what will happen.

You must be joking....

The PS3 has a free online service on par with XBL.
Having used both pretty much equally, I cannot disagree more.

PS3 does not have player reviews so you can say "this guy is being a team killing douchebag, I don't want to play with him again.

PS3 does not have a report form in the console so you can report people who are obviously cheating in games, you have to go to their online form that's hidden in the bowels of the Playstation support pages (note: they do have a form you can use if someone sends you a bad message, but it only works if someone sends you a message and it's only for reporting the contents of the messages. you can't trick a cheater into sending you a message and then report them for cheating from three).

PS3 does not have cross game or party chat so you can talk with your friends regardless of what you are playing.

PS3 does not automatically sync your trophies. You have to do it manually, and then the system forces you to sit through the 30 second or more sync process at times when you don't need to sync because you have no new trophies. I say it forces you because if you cancel it, it won't let you do whatever it was you wanted to do.

Playstation Network is NOT on par with Xbox Live, it's missing too many features that should have been included at launch.

And no, my goal here isn't to be negative. Like I said, I use both. And I'd love Sony to step things up. But they don't, and PSN keeps jogging a mile or two behind Xbox Live. It's quite disappointing to the point where I can't get multiplatform games I plan to play online for PS3 anymore. Not after trying to play Red Dead Redemption online over PSN... No. The "avoid player" feature is the bare minimum that Sony needs to add before I'll even think about getting any multiplatform title with multiplayer for PS3 again.
Well PSn has party chat (only text though) that can be used with members in different games. It also has a video chat feature with the PSEye but no one uses that.

The trophy thing I don't get what you mean by syncing tropies. When does that occur?

Most games have a report function ingame to rport cheaters. Other than that you just go on PS.com and report them yourself. If you want to report thtem that bad, yu have to go though that trouble I guess.

Essenially, cross game voice chat and trophy syncing are why PSN is not on par with XBL.....

Sure.

To be fair, theres only... 4 or 5 franchises That I can think of (and that are any good at all, in my mind) that X-Box has exclusive rights to.. And while they're good, I think I'd rather go with PS3 exclusives.

OT: I think the PSN problem is big, but hardware issues with the 360 outweigh it. The wii just doesn't have what I personally am looking for (but clearly has no big problems seeing as its a machine that prints money).

Regardless of what the PS3 owners have recently gone through, the Xbox 360 is still worse. Games become literally unplayable if the DLC for them is downloaded and the console is offline
That's wrong.

So long as you're on the console you originally purchased the DLC on, all XBL content works offline. There's a license transfer tool available online if you change consoles.
Bullshit, I say. Bullshit.

I can't play my Saint's Row 2 at all, because I'm offline. I can't even load the data, since it's DLC data.
If you've sent it in for repairs, or moved the HD from one Xbox to another, then you will need to use the transfer license tool. I did it and got all my DLC offline back.

Tis all just in my opinion, I like the Wii best and the others only have a couple of games that I like ie Portal/ 2, LBP, R&C, Halo (sort of)

360 DEFINITELY has worse problems. RRoD, obviously, but just imagine if the Microsoft servers got hacked. How much worse would it be than Sony's? Especially since millions and millions of users PAY monthly. I'd much rather just play offline than buy a new console.
Um, I would believe that Microsoft has more security than that. The PSN was free, they couldn't afford as good of a security.
Oh of course, I know it wouldn't happen, but I was just saying it as a "What if?" scenario.

Well, I'd say PS3 has worse issues (namely, its game library) than the 360; as I have yet too see a game that has really made me wish I had one, and in its years of use my xbox's one death wasn't due to a RRoD but instead a rather rarer failure, so I just have bad luck as opposed to being affected by microsoft's incompetence. And I really prefer the feel of its controller, but maybe that's just me ;)

The 360 seems to have the worst problems nowadays, only because of software. Most of their games are also available on PS3 and they have a pitiful number of memorable console exclusives compared to the other consoles. At least the Wii gets first-party games right.

I seem to run into problems with my PSP the most often. Insufficient space in the memory cards, going online just being a pain in the ass, generally shitty game library even six years after launch, the case not closing properly, making me hold it down with all my might while I play a game.
I'm guessing you don't like JRPGs?

If asked two years ago, Microsoft would have won this hands down. Now though...

RROD, while still an occurrence, is not nearly as much an issue as it used to be. It does still happen yes, but it's not the symbol of evil that it used to be (well....maybe not entirely true). The system is relatively stable now and unless your abusing it or doing something wrong with it, it should work well.

Sony on the other hand now has A LOT to answer for with the PSN. Nintendo has never really had huge issues with the Wii or DS.

But thats just how I see it.

Xbox is far worse off than Sony or at least its members are. It just so happens that Sony is hitting a rough patch, but as far as problems, 360 is your man.

If your 360 is offline and lets say that you bought a lot of XBLA games but had to move it to a different xbox or a you had a bunch of Indie Games you would not be able to play them. At ALL. See the PS3 gives you 5 copies, but the 360 gives you a "license" and a copy of the game for the xbox that downloaded it. The big catch to this license though is that you HAVE TO BE ONLINE for it to work. And while the actual game may be downloaded on your current 360 you're still locked out of it. Indie games are worse as most if not all of them you have to be online in order to play them, you don't even get an actual copy.

As well mircosoft will steal your money. Just try to cancel your subscription I can tell you that you will have a difficult time just doing that trivia task, and good luck doing it online, you will have to call in order to cancel. Not to mention that Mircosoft has the worst consumer service I have ever faced.

Oh yeah and all the "benefits" on the gold. The ones you can simply use a computer for. Or how about netflix? Why does every other console have free netflix? Even my PS3 with the current down time on the PSN, I can still log into netflix and use it, while my 360 wont let me because I dont pay them? Heck I could get netflix for my wii for free as well, That's just inexcusable Moneysoft.

Not to forget that RRoD though.

I have had my experience with all three systems and 360 as a whole bunch of problems and the big glaring problem know as Xbox Live Gold. Free members are treated like dirt.
Wow i didnt even know that you HAD to be connected to the internet to play games. So when the world ends and we lose the internet, you can't even enjoy the last few hours the world has power by playing games? That sucks.

I only own a PS3, and even with the down time of the PSN, I still love it WAAY more than the Xbox, I hate its huge ass controller first and foremost, it doesnt feel right. Anyways, I'll just go wtih the xbox since this outage is the first actual problem I've had with the PS3, and I have friends who have had rrod multiple times. Yes even with the new slim version. I have a friend who got the Halo Reach Xbox, and it broke a week in. That is f'n unexcusable microsoft, Halo is one of your big money makers, take some pride in you work. (oh and he had his previous 3 Xbox's die before that as well.)

I would say the PS3s hardware is more robust than the 360, but the PSN breach is a serious problem, and I don't think Sony will ever live it down.

Oh, I love RPGs. It's just that the library of them on the PSP is mediocre, and the only one I remotely liked was Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and maybe the Dissidia games.

Also remember that more than half of the RPGs for PSP are direct ports from PS1 or PS2, so they don't count. :p

The "Yellow Light of Doom". Never seen it, definitely heard of it.

Incidentally, we care about comparisons why?

Because someone's trying to get a thread create badge so s/he made a thread that's been done a hundred times already and couldn't even make it a proper poll thread apparently.

Fair comment, but the poll thing isn't HIS fault. That's actually a failing of the site.

And the 360 slims don't red ring nearly as much as they used to.
This. In every way.

I got a 360 elite refurb about a year and a half ago. Never RRoDed. Deosn't even get warm, and I take it right round the block. Infact, I can't think of anyone I know who's had a Red Ring in the past 2 years. And to be generous to them, Microsoft were awesome about the warentee, any proper evilcorp would have found some way to slip out of having to pay anything. Conversely of the 3 people I know who own a PS3, 2 have YLODed and Sony won't do shit about either.

Not saying this is reliable market data, just personal experiences.

I just wish people would learn that the red ring is just an error code, half the time I get a mate calling me being all "Oh no I've got 4 red lights flashing! It's dead!" and sobbing down the phone, while I carefully explain to them that just means the AV cable isn't in properly.
