Each of those games are the pinnacle of their genre. Even though WoW sucks now, I don't think anyone could argue that it wasn't one of the best games of the last decade.

How can it not be Bioware. They make the most enjoyable games and are the best when it comes to storytelling and characterization. These are essential for any game.

A close second is Bethesda.....

I think I voted for Valve last time this question came up, so I'll go with Bioware this time.

So--who do you guys think made the best games in the 2000s? I would say that it has to come down to either Nintendo, Valve, or Capcom--the others just aren't diverse enough--with Nintendo edging the others out due to their sheer volume of esteemed releases (and indeed, Majora's Mask, Advance Wars, Pokémon Gold/Silver, and Super Mario Galaxy make for a strong résumé in the 2000s).

Also, try to give a reason when you vote, however slight.

I gotta say, I laughed out loud at VALVe and Nintendo insinuated as being 'diverse'. Seeing as how VALVe has a deathgrip on the Source engine (i.e. every Valve Game is point and shoot with different objectives) and Nintendo are the masters of IP recycling.

Heck, even Capcom's starting the Hyper-Mega-Ultra-Championship Edition BS they did with Street Fighter back in the day, only now with MvC.

Not that this in anyway makes them bad, just not what I would call diverse. Team Ico's the only ones on that list that I think of when 'diversity' is mentioned.

Technically yes, sadly the industry classify turned base as RTS so that´s why I brought it up.

Wow, I just impulse voted for Valve, puting them neck and neck with my other faves, Bioware.

Truthfully, I think Bethesda and Rockstar are equally valid choices.

I went with Rockstar, because I honestly think that they make an effort to change each game they make so that it feels different enough from the last. And their games are just really really fun as well...

Half-Life 2 beats everything else by miles. The amount of sustained entertainment I've gotten from that one game must be counted in months of continuous gametime.
There are a lot of great games on that list.

But nothing else comes close.

Anyway, my vote goes to Valve, simply because almost all games they've put out these years were at the very least great. Let me recount them, like everybody in this topic already did: Half-Life 2 + episodes (great), Team Fortress 2 (excessively fun), Left 4 Dead + sequel (I heard it's good, not my thing) and Portal + sequel (digitalized God).

Also, I would like to give a shout out to Criterion. The Burnout games were extremely fun, especially Burnout Paradise which had an innotive concept, fantastic multiplayer, and free, new content-filled updates. I also heard NFS:Hot Pursuit was pretty good, but I didn't play it.

Bethesda (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3) ftw, with BioWare (Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age, Baulder's Gate) a close 2nd.

Infinity Ward a.k.a. Respawn Entertainment deserves an honorable mention for making the greatest FPS ever in CoD4.

Sony should get some credit too, for making the best MMO - Planetside.
