I'm confused... Are you saying a MS PC, is just a computer? Or are you including Linux/Mac in that?

This isn't really a pool. PC is better, meaning you get more "powah" for money. And ofcourse you have the choice to change something when it gets old, which very few laptops offers. The ones who does offer it are usually pricy enough to compete with macs anyways. Also, the laptop you can take with you pretty much everywhere. Personally, I have one of both, since I'm home half the time and away the other half.

Macs are insanely pricy while being insanely bad..then again, Im a gamer. I've noticed that photoshoppers, video makers and web comic artists tends to like em. So maybe theres something there.

Edit: when I say "pc", I mean stationary, obviously. I believe the thread-maker thought the same :)

Desktop, even though I like being able to chill on the sofa with my laptop. More power and more reliability.

Well, I can tell you its made from Diamond encrusted Platinum and its only £20.

But seriously, I wouldn't, but I would say a Mac is good, I use one and they are just as good as MS computers.

Well i would recommend a Mac for that and i HATE Mac so that shows how much i recommend it but other than that what your probably best getting is a laptop built for gaming they would have all the necessary hard ware to run all the programs used in game desighn

In terms of performance for what I need it for, I don't really see much of a difference. Both my desktop and laptop have Word and an internet connection...

That depends upon what I'm doing. If I'm at home, drafting a new manuscript or doing some gaming or editing photos, then a desktop is the better computer; more horsepower, cleaner interface, better display.

If I'm on the road, particularly if I'm riding in coach/economy class or in a hotel room, then my 2lb ultraportable laptop is the better computer; hey, 2lbs means it's only a small part of my carry-on luggage and way easier to take with me, and it's small enough to sit on one of those dinky side tables with room left over.

It's all about needs, and those differ for everyone (and won't even necessarily stay the same for a person; see above) so there's no one "better" form of computer.

they serve 2 different purposes, they are both good to have. both also have their advantages and disadvantages and it really depends on what you're doing or intend to do with them

Since I only use my computer for web surfing, and a laptop can be used, in the comfort of my own bed, I vote laptop.

I prefer Desktops. they are easily put together yourself and are even easier to upgrade. With laptops, you get what you pay for essentially. good luck upgrading it.

I really like my tablet though. its really useful in class because I can write faster than I can type, so I just use my stylus and one note. Its kinda powerful too.

I voted PC. I don't need portability (at the moment), and I find laptops a little...cramped and awkward.

Laptops are nice, just as long as you have a good mouse with them, since the little touch pad is just an annoying piece of elephant doo-doo. If I'm on vacation or in a small living space, laptop for sure. But PC's usually process faster and run a bit better, so I'm voting PC.
