I don't really want to vote for COD in case people think I liked no.5 ( which I didn't ), but I will for CoD 4. It rocks just that much

Gears is my favourite out of those 3 but they're all good. I'm not a big fan of COD but it's not at all bad... COD 4 that is.

CoD 4 still is my most played game, Halo 3 is second and GoW I don't play at all, waste of money that one.

I like all of them, and I know COD is going to win this because it has like 5 games out with different stories for each game (COD4 has a different time period) while Gears and Halo are continued stories from game to game.

It's between Halo and GOW for me. I like the gameplay elements of GOW 2, and it's a blast to play with friends, especially Horde, but I can't get into the versus mode. And Halo, as simple as it's gameplay is, when you get a room of people you know together, can be incredibly fun. I'd say Halo has the slight edge, in my opinion.

I have not played CoD5, but Modern Warfare was an excellent FPS title. It is a lot of fun if you play on Hardcore and the singleplayer is also very good (although the thought of Communist ultranationalists never ceases to dumbfound me; real-life ultranationalists in Russia want the Tsar back).

I am looking forward to Modern Warfare 2. I just hope the story will be slightly more realistic, especially since it seems they will be using (unsuprisingly) Russians as bad guys again.

Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare and Call of Duty 2:Big Red One can kick all those other games' asses any day!
Erm...says the person with the Black Mesa logo as their avatar.

Tough choice between Halo and CoD (don't like Gears at all really), but then I remembered about the crack addictions that are Unreal Tournament 3 (just got the Titan Pack, finally put onto the PS Store) and Half-Life 2.
True, but Half Life wasn't one of the choices. (yes, I know there's a none of the above option.) Also, as pure shooters, I consider CoD4:MW & CoD2:BRO better than Half life (it's a shooter/puzzle game.). I just see Modern Warfare as a better shooter than Half Life in general. I still love the Half Life series to death though!

Well, I've been talking to a lot of friends, and they all seem to have mixed feelings about these three shooter games. Some people I know love Halo 3, and aren't happy unless they are hijacking ghosts and using the assault rifle. But others love CoD, and were playing Nazi Zombies before I'd got past the second mission. But others I've met love Gears. I'm personally a Gears fan. Chainsaw=WIN. Wave 50 of horde, at twelve at night. But what I really want to know is, which do you like, and why?
Don't you have to finish the game before you can get the Zombie bonus mission?

I have to Say COD4. I played all three, and actually been in a clan in both Halo 2/3 and Gow1/2, but Halo 3 feels too much like luck, even compared to COD4, and GOW was almost perfect but the problem with it is games last too long. I don't exactly have time to play a 60 minute game everyday. Also, GoW didn't have deathmatch or any form of free-for-all which made it slit its own wrists.
In COD4, your skill shows, and it does also in GOW, but in Halo, Skill is just skin deep.

If i had a choice besides the ones on the list, though, i would have to say TF2 wins overall. It makes being on a team way funner than anything i ever experienced, and the classes are balanced but different, giving you different ways to complete the objective.

CoD 4, of course.
Gears has a terrible cover system that wont allow you to move freely, Halo is so mainstream that i want to puke out of my eyes, mainstream should sink to the bottom of that flow

It's relatively unfair to compare Gears of War with either of the other two. For one thing, it's not even first person, and second, it's cover-based.

You have to know how to spell "peasantry" to pull off the smug asshole comment.

I picked Gears mostly because I actually enjoyed the story and the character of Dom in particular, much in the same way I liked the Arbiter and Cortana more than the Master Chief or marines. It's been a tired tread with Gears that it is for the frat-boy jock demographic, a great irony given how much caution and thinking goes into a lot of the firefights as opposed to "here are aliens, shoot in face, don't worry, you has energy shield" from Halo. All I mean to say is, apocalyptic science fiction war-zone battle against impossible odds is pretty entertaining and the story is genuinely more interesting than Halo.

Can't comment on Call of Duty as I only played the multiplayer other than saying it was fun and I liked the settings they gave you for those maps. Most Call of Duty games are great though, I'm just predisposed towards science fiction is all.
