So me and my friend got into a heated discussion, because he won't stop playing Yu-Gi-Oh in the library, and when I complained to him he just said that at least he wasn't playing something like Pokemon, he said this because he knows I like it. So I was wondering what the community thought about this.

Well Pokemon is a card game based on an imaginary world full of mystical creatures while Yu-Gi-Oh is a card game based on an imaginary world where they play a card game. So I voted Yu-Gi-Oh (though I actually enjoy both of them...in private).

Pokemon games are much nerdier due to all the little things you need to know (and all the things you need to do, like breeding for IV and moves) to have a chance at competitive matches.

They're both "nerdy" for adults considering they're designed mainly for children, but I have to say yu-gi-oh, if only because I'm a huge pokemon fanboy and I have lots of friends who like pokemon whereas I haven't heard anyone in the real world even mention yu-gi-oh for about 5 years.

They are both designed as kid games, but if a grow up person find enjoyment out of it who are you to judge.

I think Yu-Gi-Oh is nerdier just because of the difference in concepts.

Pokemon: Every creature in the entire world is unique but parallel to creatures in our own world, but these are all tamable and capturable and you use these creatures (ranging anywhere from mice to dragons) to beat each other up.

Yu-Gi-Oh: People play a card game. They spice up said card game by making holograms.

I say yu-gi-oh, but I want it noted that I also think yu-gi-oh is more fun.

Do you, as an adult, really want to get in an argument over which children's card game is more pathetic?

You can skip all the card games and TV shows and just play the Pokemon non-card games, which are/were good(i've only played Red).

The whole point of yu-gi-oh is cards. Maybe I'm biased but...no, I *am* biased. Card games, virtual or otherwise, are about as nerdy as it gets.

I'd say YuGiOh, because Pokemon has that pop nostalgia advantage that YuGiOh doesn't (at least, not to the same degree). It's hard to say though.
