So, Easter is coming up this Sunday, and my parents are willing to buy me a game, but I can't decide. I haven't played a whole lot of current gen big-name titles, since I've had my Xbox for under a year, and I'm still 16, so can't buy M-rated games myself. But all three games listed interest me, and I'm hoping the people on the escapist forums can give me their opinions on which they think is best.

Or, if you think that there might be a better game, specify it in a post.

A note, I've played Bioshock 1/2, and I own Halo 3/ODST, so there's no need to suggest them. I much prefer RPG or adventure games over FPS games.

Thanks for your opinions.:)

Wait - you can't buy M games, as in you aren't allowed? (Being 16 and all)
Or your parents won't buy 'em for you?

If they'll buy it for you: Mass Effect. Or, better option, get them to buy the second (as it's arguably more expensive) and download the first from XBL.
Assuming you're not one of the three people who don't have Xbox Live.

Assassins Creed 2 is also good, but since you're into RPGs more, you'll love Mass Effect.

Dragon Age Origins, it's a great RPG and would be a different from what you have there.

Also, what's the deal with threads like these? They're not very specific and it's like people can't make up their own minds.

Hmm. The Mass Effect games are on my favourite games list, but so is Assassin's Creed 2.....get the Mass Effect games. Both of them. You won't regret it.

Either of the first two choices in that poll, though Assassin's Creed I can be rather trying, what with its lack of sense regarding the stealth system.

Fallout 3 is also amazing (and bloody long too, you really get your coin's worth).

I'm not legally allowed to buy M-rated games from Gamestop. I can usually convince my parents to get them for me though.

Assassin's Creed has some really good set pieces, but they're often so far separated by frustrating and, frankly, redundant gameplay choices that you'll really not care to get to them. That is, unless you're patient.

Regardless, your money is simply better spent elsewhere, OP.

In which case: Get them to buy the second Mass Effect, and download the first from XBL. :D

If the amount of actual time you'll spend on it is a factor Mass Effect(s) will pay off with the most play time all over. I've gotten about 150-175 hours out of mass effect 1 and dying to find a copy of mass effect 2.

Well, these are the ones I'd suggest.

Assassin's Creed 1/2
Dragon Age: Origins
Resonance of Fate
Heavy Rain

I'm assuming from your post you're into RPG's, and in that case, get Heavy Rain, Fallout 3, or the KotOR games.

I suggest most of all Fallout 3, because that fucker never ends.

Avoid FFXIII imo.
I prefer ME to AC, so would recommend ME, doing what Hazy has said ;)
A suggestion, which I've been ninja'ed on, is if you like JRPGs (and I'm assuming you do), get Resonance Of Fate, it's a much better JRPG than FFXIII.

I suggest Dark Messiah Might and Magic for the PC, It is like a linear oblivion by Bioware. Only $10 on steam so you could probably convince your parents in buying more than just it.

Oh, I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that the game will definitely be for the Xbox. My computer can't run anything more graphics intensive then Portal. (Thank you Intel)

EDIT: And thanks for the opinions guys. It looks like Mass Effect has a clear lead, but I'm also going to look into some of the other games people have suggested.

Get Mass effect. Assassin's Creed would be a good second choice, but ME has a LOT more replayability, not to mention one of the best stories I've ever seen in a video game. The only game I've ever played with a deeper inner narrative would have to be Pong. Oh, the nights I spent partaking in the struggles of that little ball, unwanted by everyone. It was quite moving, actually.

Anyways...Mass Effect.

Mass Effect or Dragon Age
and with Dragon Age, there is like 4 downloads already avaliable. 3 of them are quests(one of which is included with the game. theres a code, save ya 1200 points)and the last one is a full on expansion.
either option is a good choice imo
