Halo 2 is my favorite, and I agree with you on everything aside from the multiplayer. Halo 3 wins that categorie. Oh, and their was a small error. You stated that the Elites were less scary in Halo3/ODST. However, there are no Elites in ODST. Just felt like clearing that up.

I haven't played Halo Reach, but of the ones I've played I have to say that Halo 2 was my favorite. It had upgrades from the first game and you didn't have Gravemind constantly sending telepathic messages that annoyed you.

I have only played the main titles, thus far, although soon I intend to add Reach to this completion. Nonetheless, Halo 2 and it is not even close. I was absolutely addicted to that game, logging well in excess of three thousand hours into online multi-player. Frankly I would not be astonished if it breached four thousand.

Strangely enough my interest in the series waned significantly thereafter. I enjoyed Halo 3 for a time, yet never remotely to the extent I had with Halo 2. The game simply felt somewhat shallow by comparison, despite my inability to explain why. Halo CE I was never attached to since I played Halo for the online experience and had no means to play Halo CE online.

Only speaking from the multiplayer side of things, Halo 2 was easily the best. You had all of the hilarious and awesome glitches, you had by far the best set of maps for any shooter ever made, and you had the Battle Rifle. The good Battle Rifle, not that piece of shit they gave you in Halo 3. The only multiplayer game I've ever played that came even close to the greatness of Halo 2 was Call of Duty 4.

My first time playing Halo was the first one. I bought it almost as soon as it had come out so it was one of the first games i bought for the original xbox. I absolutely LOVED it...when I could get people together to play it. It was also my first taste of LAN gaming (system linking xboxes together...who remembers the fun of that!? :D ) but my heart belongs to Halo 2. Sure, the ending sucked soo much (me and a friend pulled an all-nighter to beat the game so at 5 in the morning when the credits hit we were a bit annoyed lol), but the gameplay was awesome. Everyone got their first experience with Dual Wielding and Xbox Live. The others did improve on the formula but Halo 2 did everything well, imo. (Dual Needlers FTW! xD)
