So when you've only got one hand available for the keyboard, which hand do you type with? And what is it, usually, that's got your other hand so busy?

Personally, I can type with either hand, but usually I'm holding a cup of something almost but not entirely unlike tea, and that goes in the left hand.

Depends. I'm pretty comfortable typing with either hand. Most common culprit for one been tied up is if I have a book in the other hand, although I type while drinking tea quite a lot - the way my desk at home is set out means I normally hold a book open with my left hand, and I nearly always hold a mug in my right hand.

I'll usually hold food in my right hand so I'll end up typing with my left. I'm getting pretty efficient with it.

I'm right handed and usually type with both.

Two fingers. Well, four actually; Both indexes, and the middle and thumb of my right hand.

I type with both hands, as I imagine most people do.

However, while generally I actually use more of the fingers on my left hand when typing with both hands, when typing with only one hand I prefer using my right.

Its a bit odd :p

Both. My mother had me take a typing course when I was 13. Had to go to a school nearby with a bloody heavy typewriter. My fingers got stuck sometimes between the buttons. But I'm at peace with it now ;P and am glad I can type fast enough.

I type with my left hand and do whatever it is I'm doing with my right hand (which is usually holding food).

I type with both hands, but only write with my right. 'Ambidextrous' doesn't apply to typing style.

I'm right handed, but when it comes to typing, I tend to do better with my left.
So, Left.

when im holding something, its most likely in my right hand, so i use my left hand to type. in the case where some HAS to be in my left hand, im still exactly as good at typing as i am in my other hand.

My left hand seems to take dominance, despite being right handed. Even when touch typing, my left hand dances all over the keyboard, with each finger and the thumb pressing keys. Whereas I only tend to use my middle finger with my right hand. No idea why.

Also I'm usually gaming on my PC, whilst browsing on my laptop, which is on a table to my left hand side. It's very useful to be able to just do everything with my left hand in this case.

When using only one hand? Either one is okay. I do much better with right hand, but I've just written this entire post with my left one. I have to look at the keyboard, but it doesn't affect my speed at all. Hell I can even use mouse with my left hand, like when I'm eating something.

Before this thread I was sure everyone that spends time on the internet enough to come on a forum used both hands. I do, but only one finger with each, because I suck at touch typing.

EDIT: Also, from my prediction the question you pose seems to be irrelevent. I'm right handed, not ambidextorous, but use both hands. So am I the "use two fingers" option?

I can type easily with both hands.
It depends which hand the object in question is close to.
I'll type with my unoccupied hand.

I voted two fingers, but now that I'm writing this I realize that I actually am ambidextrous.

I type with both hands. If I needed to pick though, I'd be more comfortable typing left handed. Maybe...

I use both normally. But sometimes when I'm working on a paper or something, I'll be eating as I type, so I hold the food with my right hand, and type with my left. I type a little slower that way, but I guess it's because I'm only using one hand instead of two.
