Ok, so the title of this topic isn't too accurate, as your choices are more than just heroes.

But, as it stands, which "super" character do you like best. By that I mean, if you could be/ hang out with/ call upon in times of dire need/ etc... which one would you pick?

For me, its the capable villain. Those guys are usually mad smart, and hey, if they win, I'd like to be on their good side.

Well, I think V is the best hero ever. I don't know which category that would go under though; he's not exactly the tight-wearing or emo/brooding kind of hero.

Well, I like villians who can become anti-hero, or ones who border. It's complicated really. I'd lean toward the cool and capable villian though.

Close contest between the old school heroes and the capable villains.......

Nah, gotta be the villains - Ledger's Joker for example was class coz it showed that when the evil guy gets his act together even the legendary Batman can be challenged.

A true villain is threatening even to a superhero =)

I prefer a hero who just is. He does what he has to, whether he wears tights, a robot suit, or whatever.

Would an example of that be Venom?

I'm indifferent. Heroes like Hancock or Dr. Manhattan/Rorschack (or whats their names, from Watchmen) are really cool. I just love them as characters.
But there are those really cool heroes who can actually get shit done like Batman (from Dark knight) or Joker, if talking about villains.

True Neutral.

Like Jack Sparrow. The perfect hero and anti-hero.

Yeah, I gotta agree with these. Both great heroes.

I prefer the non-emo anti-heroes (such as Jesse Custer from The Preacher, Ash from Evil Dead or Duke Nukem).

They combine the sheer awesomeness and badassery that we come to expect from anti-heroes without the whiney emo parts that often drag them down.

Not really. More of the villian who's goals could be considered not evil, but not just because they were good and became insane (example Fable 2)
I made a character in DnD based like that. He was considered evil, because of the things he did. He did them though in hopes of taking over the world (again, 'evil') but because he felt the world would have peace under his own millitaristic rule. He just wants to 'save the world' using iron fists.

Sorry, but that's called "Lawful Evil". An evil character who wants to control the world, but still have some laws and respect them.

Light Yami (Kira) from Death Note seems like what you're looking for. He was killing evil people and was hoping that people will start to fear doing bad things and they'd act good, or else he'd punish them.
