Mouse and keyboard supplemented by a joystick for niche genres is the only combo for any real gamer. Any of the console controllers are for casuals and non-gamers.
keys and mouse would just never feel right to me.

Gotta give it to the 360. It has weight to it and that I like that. Ps3 and Nintendo controllers just feel too light.

And the N64 controller hurt my hands as a child. The gamecube was nice but yeah gotta give it to the 360.

Keyboard/mouse is the best though ;)

I need a good d-pad in case i buy a 2d platformer/shooter or fighting game. GameCubes just too small, and the X360s d-pad just simply sucks balls, so i stay with the Playstation controller for the 3rd generation now. Maybe next gen...

I like the Gamecube controller. I wish I had a new one to replace my worn-out purple controller. I've had that thing for years, man.

Second place goes to the Playstation controller. 2 or 3, it doesn't matter. I think that the 360 controller is really uncomfortable, especially the trigger buttons.

PS3 controller is disgusting.

Gamecube is god tier, with 360 as high tier.

Wii-mote...is not even on a tier.

Before E3?
I would have said Mouse & Keyboard followed by the Razer Hydra.

After E3, I'm tempted to say the Mek-Fu. Only that hasn't been released yet.

The 3-handed one gets my vote. Best controller ever.[/spoiler][/QUOTE]

Made me laugh, I'm saving that one.

This version of the Gamecube controller has seen me dominate friends at Super Smash Bros for years now.

I actually need to look for a replacement as I'm wearing out mine.

But yeah, the Gamecube controller out of that list gets my vote.

[sub]Shouldn't this be in Gaming Discussion?[/sub]
Hey I have[footnote]Though I don't remember buying it, I think I may have stolen it from a friend's house....[/footnote] that GC controller too, but I left it on the Mexicali sun [small](Hotter than hell itself)[/small] and the black stuff on the stick became, well sticky and then it fell off, and though now it's really uncomfortable to use because of the stick that burrows into my fingers, back in the day it was the best since it was even smaller than the normal GC controller and I had really tiny hands, to the point that I quite literally couldn't use the original Xbox controller.

A legitimate choice and decision, of course. It still means you'll never be able to compete with those who use superior control hardware, but given how games are designed for the anancephalic these days, it'll probably never be noticed.
Competition has never been a factor for me and gaming unless its beside a friend on one tv.
I dont really like online multiplayer, too impersonal and boring.

I grew up with the PS controller. But with the control settings in most games, the 360 has the better one with a higher left thumb stick, as well as it being closer to my thumbs' natural position when holding a controller. The triggers on the 360 also feel more...well...more trigger- than the PS3s ones. Although I do hope Microsoft puts in-built decent batteries with the next generation of controllers. Although even to this day, I still end up pressing A when told to press the X button on the 360 controller. hat will never stop.

Definitely the 360 controller. It's a bit bigger and more comfortable, the trigger/shoulder button combo is better than any other controller (especially the awful ones on the PS3), the sticks are comfortable and CONCAVE so your thumbs don't slide weirdly when you use them (PS again here, I'm looking at you), I prefer the stick/button alignment to other controllers, and the face buttons are comfortable and responsive. However, the D-Pad is pretty terrible; PS controllers have the best of those.

Second favorite is the PS2 (not PS3)controller (I grew up with a PS2, so it kind of has to be). Gamecube controller was pretty good, but the sticks don't have the range of movement of some other controllers and I've never much liked its R and L triggers.

And I have to say it (bracing for nostalgia-fueled rage): the N64 controller is straight up terrible. WHY WOULD THEY GIVE IT 3 HANDLES?

GameCube since it was there, for current gen the Xbox360.
But I'm really used to the Wii-mote nowadays so it's close up the top.
and no, NOT THE N64 ONE!!!

huh?

well assuming you are serious

saying "controlers are for non gamers and casuals" is stupid...I hate to break it to you buddy but most of the "core" market (so no...not your mum who plays farmville or the family with the Wii)

is consoles.....which is pretty obvious as most "big" releases are console ports first and foremost

regardless of depth/complexity of said titles when most games are made for consoles you cant say "controlelrs are for non gamers/casuals" its as bullshit as me saying "PC's are better for shotoers and stuff but consoles are better for racing/platformers/action games" <-no...they arnt

hell, you give a non-gamer/casual a controller they wont know what to do with it

PS2 has always been my favourite controller, so I would've voted PS3 if they hadn't ballsed it up with those shitty marshmallow shoulder buttons and that god awful '50:50 chance of working correctly' six-axis.

You seem to not quite grasp the concept of "unwashed masses". You provide excellent examples of it, but don't seem to understand the implications. I suppose it's a case of desensitizing to one's own... fragrance, as it were.

However, as you seem to have only a passing familiarity with keyboards (or possibly communication at all, who am I to say?) I'll leave you to explore the great wide world of the internet. Perhaps one day you'll meet the prerequisites of legible communication and we can pick up where we left off.
waaaa?? what the fuck are you on about?...are you still serious or am I being trolled here?

my point was just because somone has a console as their primary platform does not make them a "non-gamer" or "casual"

I'd be stuck in a tie between the Gamecube and the 360 controller. I've found both to be the most comfortable on the hands and the most convenient in button layout. Although i will give a honorable mention to the N64 controller despite it's weird way of holding it and rare usage of the D Pad (At least with the game i played at the time).

No, I think he is serious. It's just another example of someone forgetting that people are people, and trying to assert himself as above them. In other words Daniel Dravot, Ronald Taylor, ect. Just in no position of power.

because of his gaming peripheral preference?

I like PS3 controller the most. It's probably most versatile for multiple genres.

That, and I just can't imagine myself playing Demon's Souls and MGS using xbox controller with ease.

360 controller is the best for me mainly because of its high left thumbstick positioning over the lower Sixaxis position offered by the ps3's controller

Thumb cramps fo dayzZz with that.
