I'm looking to my a PC that will play Football Manager (more specifically 2012), possibly a few other games, and just to use for my college work and back up my CDs. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices.

The first being the Acer Aspire Revo R3700 Net-top PCwhich costs just under £300. It seems ideal because from what I can tell it has better graphics and it's faster, also the cheapest. But it has the drawback of not having a CD drive.

The second is the eMachines EL1850 SFF Desktopwhich costs £315. This one has got a CD writer but it's got a smaller hard drive than the other. I've got an eMachine computer and it's crap so I'm a little dubious.

So which do you think I should get?

Unless you don't mind replacing it in 2 years, neither. But if 300 is about your budget limit...

Between the two, the Emachine is significantly more powerful and a better buy. Not sure where you got the idea that it was the other way around. The Acer beats it slightly on RAM, but adding RAM to a desktop is quite cheap (just make sure you get the right type)

To top it all off, you can purchase upgrades/part replacements for the Emachine and install them relatively easily (The only components of a desktop that aren't easily to install would be the motherboard and CPU. Everything else an amateur can learn to do within seconds, and actually accomplish within minutes), you cannot do the same for a mini-computer like the Acer, what you buy is basically what you get.

Right, thanks for that.
