Second picks would be the Starks (for their rugged Northern realm, sense of honour, history of supporting the Night's Watch, and the epic righteousness of the Hour of the Wolf during Aegon III's reign), or the Arryns for the best castle (the Eyrie, nestled high in the mountain, impenetrable and never taken by force).

House Martell, definitely.

Out of all the places you could be in Westeros, Dorne seems like the place to be.

I think this one of the mistakes in F&I. Martell seems to be all chill good guys if a little spicy and the realm is all sandy beaches and kickass food. Pretty much vacation/party central.

At the end of the day its hard not to snap choose martell there's no drawback.

The Tyrell have also been painted as the clean cut good guys with a nice foresty realm.

I ended up voting the easy way and going Martell, but I have to admit the savage Pisces in me makes Greyjoy really intriguing. Being a kraken helmeted Pirate sounds pretty awesome, but you know its not going go well for those guys by the end of this.

Either way I just need to be near water.

Well, I mostly chose them because they seem to have a rather laid back attitude towards bi- and homosexuality. And they seem to treat their people not like shit, so that's a plus. XD

Admittedly, I also like that it's probably the most stable and safe region in Westeros relatively speaking.

I gotta go with Stark, even if they do tend to get killed a lot. Ned's a pretty cool guy, and historically the Starks have basically been the only reason the north isn't fucked. Plus, I'm getting a real Professor X vibe off Bran, whatever he's up to is gonna be big. And anyways, I already live in the frozen north, Winterfell wouldn't be too much of an adjustment.

I'd swear fealty to the one true king of Westeros, Stannis Baratheon! He has the best claim, Dany may feel she has rights to it, but just as her ancestor Aegon the conquerer, Robert Baratheon became king by right of conquest, and a bastard of incest sits the upon the iron throne. Making their claim by birth right illegitimate, Stannis is the rightful heir!

I'd argue there are a ton of kids in King's Landing with a more legitimate claim. Bet you can't throw a rock without hitting someone Robert did the horizontal mambo with. I think Gendry's the only one whose been named thus far, but still, King Bob got around.

Personally, I'd side with Greyjoy because I think they have the coolest schtick. I don't think they're likely to lay claim to the throne, but the Ironborn are badass. Being drowned is a rite of passage for crap's sake. "That which is dead can never die, but comes back, harder and stronger than before." They're basically magic viking jedi.

Arya's the Avenging Stark. Clearly Tony's ancestor.
I vote Stark no matter what.

That said, I find it hard not to vote Tyrell.
Granny Tyrell is amazing, and the younger Lady Tyrell isn't far behind - plus she's Natalie Fucking Dormer.

After that, House Martell and House Tyrion/Jaime* are tied.

Aegon Targaryen back in Westeros, or at least, someone who claims to be Aegon Targaryen.

So maybe Dorne would be a safer choice in the future.

Tyrell for me. Since there's the more direct path to the Throne, but that depends on how far away Dany is from arriving with her dragon army.

I don't know who the hell would go for Lannister or Arryn, since as of now:

Lannister's just got Jaime and his sister, who the people hate, and the big man himself got crossbow'd and the one who did the deed practically banished himself.

Arryn pretty much has no one left, unless you want to start a House Baelish-Stark or something.

Stannis is worrisome, sure he may have the guts and the only living heir and the dirty tricks up his sleeve to get there, but how long will the influence from his crimson corrupt lover last...unless he drops her like a hot potato after (excuse pun) I wouldn't want him anywhere near the throne.

Would be awesome to see Martell's get in on the action, though I think their chapter is over and they live way too damn far away anyways.

Martell is in Dorne which sounds like paradise honestly, but Tyrell looks like it's going to have the most powerful folks, so I'm going to have to go... Greyjoy. Asha and Theon are my 100% faves in the books. (Yes, THAT Theon.) Plus, they worship a fucking sea monster. How could I choose anything else?

There's still two books to go, I don't think any house is a safe option in A Song of Ice and Fire.

Actually, there are still three books to go; the postscript of A Dance With Dragons makes it clear that it was actually the second half of the fourth book, split because it was getting too long. Whether Martin's dedication to seven will overpower his storytelling instinct (and thus, whether we'll actually get the whole story) remains to be seen, however.

Anyway, I'm surprised no one has taken the "abandon this feudal nonsense and flee to Braavos" option.

Hm. Considering that i've yet to read more than 57 pages of the first book I must swear fealty to The Noble House of Forrester. Rodrik seems a good man. As did Ethan and the Gregor the good. I may have my problems with Duncan, but the house is filled with good people, and good lords. Iron from Ice!

I imagine it has something to do with them being almost completely unsympathetic. If they're not whining about how they should have more land despite being completely uninterested in maintaining it, they're probably raping a kidnapped woman. I mean I honestly don't know how their pillage based economy works. Even the Vikings historically colonized a lot of the land they took, probably because they realized that a steady and progressive agricultural society was easier than constantly fighting for resources. I mean sure they're great fighters and sailors. But the house itself is kinda shitty, their family head is an embittered old asshole and the iron isles are generally not a nice place to live. Certainly all reasons why I wouldn't want to be pledged to the house.

For all their worship of the old and deep ones they don't really have much to show for it. Definitely not when compared to say; the Martells or the Tyrells, two houses commonly held to have good values and reasonably moral actions, in addition to strong economies and powerful political positions.

I'd probably go with the Martell's, it seems like there not too involved with the politics of Westeros too much (only seen the show so I don't know if that's going to change), I get the protection of a house and I'm not getting too involved in the politics that will end up with me being horribly murdered.

If push came to shove, I'd look at Dorne but I'd rather set up shop in a Free City like Tyrosh or Braavos than deal with the turmoil in the seven kingdoms. Seems like a safer bet right now.
